I think she was saying "whut" because the prefix of your username could be followed by hundreds of different E-mail suffixes (Gmail, Hotmail, Charter.net, AO"just grandparents should still be using us"L, etc).

She could also be saying "whut" because your second sentence was a little weird as well.

Odd that we're reading the Daily Mail version. Did they publish it because their age of consent is 16, and it gives their readers yet another chance to tut over those repressed Americans?

It is the Daily Fail readership we are talking about here - and they are more repressed than you, even behind their net curtains.

Er, doesn't anyone else find it disturbing they're even allowed to ban someone from using the Internet? These days the Internet is as important for freedom of expression and communication as being able to speak. If it came right down to it I would prefer losing the ability to speak to losing the ability to do the endless list of things you can do on the internet.

I would think this story would cause any regular BIE senders to worry, actually... If they inadvertently send some to someone who turns out to be an underage kid, can they also be banned from the Net (or worse)? Must we all now present proof of legal age in BIE threads?

Stating that socially, men and women are different, and relevant facts, does not make one a misogynist.

But then again, you being on the Brigade, I could say, "It's a beautiful day outside." and you'd label me a misogynist too.

I'm unclear on this whole "sexting" thing with the naughty pictures and the e-mails and whatnot.

Perhaps some female here could show me what all this fuss is about.

Eh, the UN. That bastion of moral decency and honor. Not really sure why anyone takes anything they say or do seriously anymore.

Hot milfs and 16 year old young men are to each other the way that a handful of baby mice is to a pond full of piranha.

The sign says do not feed the Piranha....

But you shouldn't punish the occasional cougar who falls in.

This kid is clearly never going to be quite right after this and will probably require years of therapy in order to fully come to terms with the damage this woman has caused. Without care he could easily grow to be an alcoholic child-molesting wife-beater as a result of this atrocity. He'll have something to blame it on, in any event.

FTA:

She had faced up to ten years in jail but the judge sentenced her to five years probation with a stipulation that her internet access be restricted to work use.

Since it's not a total ban in the first place I'd say the judge would be inclined to disregard any potential hyperbolic slippery slopes, eas81. While we're playing with hyperbole, it's worth noting that trying to ban someone from the internet is sort of like trying to ban someone from viewing the sun on a cloudless day.

I didn't RTFA, but my problem with it is banning someone from using the internet for something that wasn't really using the internet to start with. It might use the internet as a transmission mechanism, but it's not like sexting is done when surfing. I know I used to be able to send picture messages from a phone without internet access.

ParaHandy: Definitely a victimless crime.

So now we've established that giving pornography to underage teenage boys is a good thing.

Logically, then, this would have gone exactly the same direction if it had been a male teacher and/or an underage female student.

To be fair, I don't think anyone has ever been killed by sexting, unless they were doing it while driving.

I could be wrong, though.

The situation is not the same. I'm sorry but it isn't. No 16 year old kid is getting scarred by receiving nude pics of this woman. And the kid is an idiot because I am assuming the only reason this woman got caught is because he couldn't keep his mouth shut

Not that I'd know anything about doing that.
