I quit drinking 20 years ago. During the first several years of my sobriety, I carried the lyrics to Life By The Drop in my wallet. That song helped me along the way. Thank you and R.I.P., Mr. Bramhall.

When I read SRV, I thought it would be that guy, on the back of his first album, with the tremendous false teeth.

That's too bad. Saw him SRV & Double Trouble once, a great musician, and half responsible for Doyle Bramhall II, one of my favorite guitar players.

I met Doyle years ago when I still lived in DFW and was active in the local music scene. Hell of a musician, and hell of a nice guy. He will be missed.

Saw him get on stage with Jimmie Vaughan at one of Jimmie's gigs in Dallas Alley once, and it kicked ass.

When I saw that he was 62, I gots confused as I forgot the one in Arc Angel's was the second Doyle

This is horrible news. Dude was talented as hell.

Damn, and I left halfway through his set on July 22nd. I had the whole family there, and was getting tired myself.

"Life By The Drop" is haunting to listen to when you know the story of what happened to Stevie, yet is still awesome in its subtle cool. Context is needed:

It's kind of like, "I'm gonna die. Someday, you're going to die, too. But we've got good memories and we should enjoy it when we get the chance to be together."

I know there are a a lot of Stevie fanboys out there. I guess I'm one of them.

This is so sad to hear. He and Barbara are truly humble, extremely nice people. I will miss him dearly.
