Because the revolution will not be televised.

With Portland PD's record, who really expects this to stay that way? Because I don't.

Yep. I'm sure her boss at KOIN will kid her about it when she's back at the station. :-D

The interesting thing is that after that happened, the annoying occupier asked her what TV station she was with. She answered "KOIN". The occupier replied that he had never heard of it.

KOIN has been Portland, Oregon's CBS affliate since the early 1950s, so I'm guessing the guy isn't from the area.

So you're going with the "It's not news now, but it might be news soon." defense?

You watching right now? Giant guys in riot armor with a track record of being d-bags versus a lot of really normal people. Basic history: This is not going to end well.

That's Kacey Montoya. She supposedly sued KOIN for discrimination a couple of years ago for some pics she did before she was hired by KOIN. If they didn't can her for that, they won't can her for this.

What pics you ask? (new window) SFW unless your boss is a real prude.

true - the book was better.

that said...some cities really do need to put their cops through some remedial training. they're not supposed to attack the protesters, they're supposed to step in if/when things get violent.

Cops are supposed to enforce the law equally on behalf of all citizens. The city has finally decided to let the cops do that.

militarization of state and local cops is something that's had some unintended consequences. it seems to have made the cops less likely to talk their way out of problems and more likely to start blasting away with the fun guns.

Actually, sitting down and watching the movie from start to finish is one of my new goals. I've seen bits and pieces, and I just really like hearing Natalie Portman's British accent.

They just had a story about the Occupy Philly on the news and it's basically a hobo camp with trash cans of poop and drum circles. Fighting the power for sure.

Man, seeing all those cops lined up in their masks and their shiny riot gear kinda gives me a funny feeling, like climbing the rope in gym class. . ..

Drum circles have proven to be an effective way to change legislation. Smoking pot is another.

These occupiers used to be a part of another Occupy Portland group that was camping legally. These folks broke off from that group and moved to the park seen in the video, where they have been camping illegally for some time now. They were warned ahead of time that they needed to leave the park and that they would be forcibly removed by a certain date if they didn't comply.

They're not just camping illegally, but they're blocking off the street too. I'm somewhat supportive of the Occupy movement, but not with the assholish behavior of some of the occupiers.

They're blocking the street only because they got kicked out of a public park.

Because on the Animal Farm all the best stuff happens at night under cover of darkness.

Nope, it's not.

Yesterday one of my son's friends almost hit an Occupy Eugene protester. The idiot stepped out into heavy traffic to wave his sign around.

In case you didn't know, the Occupy Eugene folks are camped out (legally) in the park near my apartment. They're about a block away from my front door.

No, but what would you expect from a city whose most famous hero is a fictional semi-retarded boxer.

None for the cops, though.
