I didn't see it live, just the replays after the game. I don't usually like that sort of bullshiat, but I actually got a little tear in my eye for the parents.

Wow. Just wow.

Well done, Bruins, Sabres, parents and Lt. Jacobs!

Just to be fair, are they going to surprise every military family at a public event by bringing their kid/spouse/dad home early?

and then they promptly knocked miller flat on his ass

What type of AW pulls this type of stunt in public? If you really want to help why do it in public? Oh yeah.
F*ck the people that send kids overseas to die and those that seek attention for their part in this.

As much as I dug the video, as a Bs fan, I have to admit that I was more entertained by that.

So are you saying since it can't be done for everyone it shouldn't be done at all?

Yes they did quite a classy thing there and I give them full props for it but then they went and ruined it by doing such a classless thing by running our goalie.

Ya. Miller wasn't wearing any pads and was minding his business in the crease.

Oh wait? He wasn't and was trying to play the puck like any other defender? My mistake.

The NHL rules specifically state that a goaltender is not fair game like "any other defender" It was a total cheap shot considering he had plenty of time to let up or turn.

From Lucic No, Most other people aren't goons like that.

/also Fark my sabres, the whole team should be replaced by players be it in the NHL or AHL that have a pair and act like it.

Bruins fan here. I was yelling at Lucic when he put out that hit for taking such a stupid penalty. He was lucky to only go to the box for two minutes.

/But it sure worked out in the end.

I didn't even know the Bruins had the power to bring soldiers home. It really begs the question what took them so long to do it, and why are they only doing it one at a time?

Just sayin'.

Listen, maybe Lucic could have slowed up or turned away, but he really didn't do much beside just keep going in the direction he was going.

Your own f*cking team didn't even think it was a big enough deal to do something about it. This is hockey.

I love this post, by the way. I just wonder how this all went down. When did the kid know he was coming home? How did the Bruins find out about it? How did they approach the parents? How did the kid keep from blowing the surprise?

I say kid, I just mean he's their kid, I have no idea how old he is.

Uhm, go with either "dust" or "onions" next time, dumbmitter... combining the two mostly cancel each other out.

regardless, at least one sabre shouldve dropped his gloves and went right after lucic the second miller went down. if the roles were reversed, i would expect a bruin to go after the sabre forward that ran thomas.

it was embarrassing to see retaliatory patty-cake instead, and it symbolizes the extent to which post-lockout hockey has been watered down to escape the, 'i was at a fight and a hockey game broke out,' stigmatization.

I have craigzy: Propaganda is a form of communication that is aimed at influencing the attitude of a community toward some cause or position so as to benefit oneself or one's group.

Yeah, not to be a jerk, but I have to agree with this.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that the kid is home and that he was able to surprise his parents and all that, but this felt way too much like a recruiting commercial. If you want to surprise your mom, bring her lunch at the office or pop in on her book club or something; meeting her on the ice while the Army commercial theme song plays in the background seems like a bit much. I kept waiting for someone to jump out singing "Yvan Eht Nioj".

Darren Pang intervewing Zdeno Chara is always hilarious. Here we see the midget putting the microphone on a stick to be able to ask the giant some quetions.

You mean winning and thereby causing the fans of another team to riot because theirs lost? Those riots?

Love Looch, but it was a dirty play.

How about the Bruins fill the entire arena with troops returning from Afghanistan/Iraq, 1 at a time is just a tease.

2011-11-14 05:23:48 AM
Yeah, I reckon combat experience would help you appreciate the B's game.

2011-11-14 05:47:30 AM
I'm an advocate of goalies being fair game when they play the puck, but until the rules are changed you can't level one. At the very least Lucic could have just run into him, but finishing a check on Miller was a punk move.

Also a punk move: that no Sabre made sure that Lucic answered for that. Especially considering that the hit reactivated Miller's concussion problem. Didn't look like it was that bad, but head injuries are weird like that.

2011-11-14 06:21:29 AM
Huh, Miller out with a concussion.

2011-11-14 07:40:20 AM
It was nice... Not as nice as the shellacking the Bruins handed the Sabres, though. : )

Yeah, kind of a cheap shot by Lucic on Miller, but whatever. He did his two minutes and fired up the Bruins. Sabres didn't seem to think the hit warranted some fisticuffs, so...

Hope Miller recovers. Hell of a goalie.

I'm guessing somewhere in the 3-5 game range for the suspension.

I sure hope so. If they don't, I'd like them to do with with as many soldiers and their parents/spouses/children as possible.

At this point shouldn't people be expecting it?
