FTFA: And the survey revealed that both Oriental and German cockroaches - which can spread dysentery tuberculosis and typhoid - are now gaining a foothold in the UK.

Great, as if I need another reason to hate roaches.

That's an odd name. I'd have called them chazwazzers.

kudayta: Is this revenge for the whole prison colony thing?

No, just discovering Australia in the first place and not having sense to leave immediately and never return.

I know it's Fark and the Simpsons hate here is uncanny, but tonight's episode was nothing short of excellent.

Can't be too careful. Also seems, can't be careful enough either.

1. Red Back Spiders are arachnids, not insects, although both are part of the arthropods.

2. They eat flies and other insects (and other arthropods). If we did not have these or other spiders, we would be up to our butts in flies and crawling insects every summer. Praise them for their efforts in keeping the insects at bay.

3. They make a neat squish when trodden on, wear shoes. These and white tailed spiders are the only ones I kill, all others get transport to the back end of the garden.

Grow a pair UK, they are only spiders.

Meh, nobody actually dies from redback bites any more. You might want to get some redback antivenin in stock though....

Now funnelwebs, OTOH, they're nasty. Thankfully they only live around Sydney.

It's too late for us, UK, but hopefully you'll be able to repel the Argentine ant before it colonizes you.

Best wishes, California

They don't leap. They lurk.

Only spider i've ever seen that will specifically go out of its way to ruin someone's day.

Right now you have pointed out a real danger.

Several years ago, a friend's brother attended a dentist conference in Arizona during the month of february. During the 8-hour drive from the Montreal airport to his cabinet in Sept-Iles, the extra passenger he didn't know he was carrying crawled out of his luggage and found it's way to the front of the car..., to this day, he is still the only person ever to have been stung by a scorpio on Quebec's North Shore in the middle of winter.

/csb ?
