At what point did "Sparky" Schulz go from clever cartoonist to filthy-rich douchebag merchandizing tycoon who could no longer draw a straight line to save his life?

Makes me wish Waterson kept "Calvin & Hobbes" going just to bury that pompous fark someday in the comic strip ratings.
