Beating Battletoads and Pac Man is seriously hardcore, but the "Killionaire" medal in Halo 3 is one of those things you only need the right circumstances to get. And surviving for 15 minutes on GTA 4 with 6 stars is kinda boring 15 minuted of being shot at by infinitely re-spawning baddies, meh.

Better challenges include beating really hard games or doing crazy things like beating Resident Evil games with only the knife.

There's an AR challenge in Arkham City where you have fly through a ground-level tunnel and make it out the other side without touching the ground. It's kicking my ass right now. Probably not the hardest thing I've ever played, but we're getting up there in amount of attempts.

Here's another brutal challenge: Enjoy the Apple fights in Assassin's Creed.

The original insane in the membrane should be up there. Also,

"There's a Donkey Kong kill screen coming up."

Go look up the movie "King of Kong". It's a documentary about two people competing for the Donkey Kong high score. The game ends on a kill screen, so its about how many points you can jam in before you hit that.

It's a fun movie too.

I remember in MS Flight simulator 2000, I used to try to fly a 777 between the WTC towers. The 777 wingspan is 60m, the distance between the two towers is 60m.

You must really like Battletoads. ;)

I have had many great video game accomplishments (finished ghost and goblins, finished Section Z, finished Space Shuttle for Atari 2600) but sadly, finishing Battletoads is not on my list of accomplishments.

One man's idea of trolling is another man's truthful opinion. I spend a lot of time playing video games myself, but it's hard for me to fathom spending hundreds of hours trying to get to a kill screen as not being the actions of some sort of super loser.

Have you people never heard of 7 day survivor? You try surviving in a zombie filled mall for 14 hours. No save, no continues, and your health is constantly draining.

2011-11-12 10:15:34 AM
Getting all the Veteran achievements on Call of Duty 2 was REALLY hard. COD2 had one of the very best single-player campaigns.

2011-11-12 10:16:08 AM
I saw two different guys get the kill screen on Pac-Man, in the same arcade, in one week.

Yeah, the 80s were weird.

/played Robotron 2084 for two hours on one quarter
//not even close to a record, even in that arcade

2011-11-12 10:20:04 AM
That list was utter shiat without Demons Souls beat NG+ and yes, dwade 7 day survivor in DR was insanely difficult. Genocider achievement was more fun though.

Also Commando achievement in Battlefield 2 was god tier- kill 4 people with a knife without dying.

Heh...have you read Ready Player One? The Pac-Man kill screen is a plot point. Also, I found it a rather enjoyably fun, if somewhat predictable, book.

I have done one of these, beat Battletoads. There are a ton of japanese games that make these challenges as hard as shooting fish in a barrel.

My roommate finished Zelda II without ever picking up the candle.
I played Road Blasters (arcade stand-up) so many times that I could play the first level without watching the screen (sound and muscle memory).

Well, yeah. Most valid achievements in video games require an element of natural skill or ability. The people who don't have this skill convince themselves that video game success is directly proportional to time spent and declare the greatest accomplishments the domain of the uber-nerd.

See where I'm going with this?

Goodfella: Also Commando achievement in Battlefield 2 was god tier- kill 4 people with a knife without dying.

I really have to wonder whose idea it was to place intensely-individual-oriented "achievements" in a cooperative-focused game mode.

Done it. Not that hard, but beat the shiat out of those games back in the day.

Getting the GT5 platinum trophy is harder (All gold, including their Sebastian Vettel X1 challenge). They sat him down in a theoretical F1 car and you have to beat his best lap time's! Looking at the trophy recording sites, only .5% of the player's have gotten it.

Also, a site that left out Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, it not a real site. The game is almost impossible to platinum, and comes down to skill.

Gears 3? The achievement looks long, but that's time consuming, not skill. It's similar to GTA4 where you needed to rank up to level 10, $5 million dollars, $25-2400 bucks at a time. Thats about 2800 successful games of Noose.... which funny enough they didn't mention.

15min in GTA4 @ 6 stars was easy. Get 6, know where to find a heli and you're gold.... You can even land on a skyscraper and antagonize the spawning waves of enemies and heli's.

PizzaJedi81: Heh...have you read Ready Player One? The Pac-Man kill screen is a plot point. Also, I found it a rather enjoyably fun, if somewhat predictable, book.

I loved that book and second the recommendation.

There was an Xbox Arcade game that came out a few years back called Bionic Commando Rearmed, which took the old game and updated graphics, added some challenge modes, and threw in difficulty levels. On the hardest difficulty, that game is nigh-impossible.

Oh, please, I beat that on like my third try.

My brother played and beat the Spyro games while running on a treadmill. This is the greatest feat of game-playing I've ever seen. I try running on a treadmill while playing a driving game, never mind a perspective-changing flying game, and I inevitably step off the side of the belt by accident within ten minutes, tops.

Which, yes, is unintentionally exciting.

COD was never hard. It was cheap.

W@W was the worst offender with it's LOLGrenades and running headshot MG42's @ 1000 yards. MW2's Juggernauts came a close second with their running headshot M240's.

BF3's campaign seems to decided to follow that horrible AI.

The DS version is balanced, and I do it fairly regularly...maybe one out of four games. I've got Tecmo Bo, but rarely use him (he also can't run around like the NES version).

I've been working on that, at D-Day currently. It takes some time so I'll only do a chapter every few days. Can you believe people still play MP on Xbox Live?

Nope. Good try though. While frustrating, I would say most people have done it. The items listed on this site are probably achievements many have not done or even attempted to seriously get.

I've done playthroughs where I've beaten it in my first attempt. I've done playthroughs of it where I've had to do it dozens of times.

It requires a combination of near perfect skill, and near perfect luck.

farking mission is a biatch.

Demons Souls really isn't that hard, unless you were born after 1992 or you play every game like it's God of War on Easy.

But in all seriousness, I always found the Devil May Cry games to be hard as hell on Dante Must Die mode. And by hard as hell, I mean I put the controller down after trying to beat the first level.
