FTA: Armed men seized Ramos at gunpoint Wednesday night outside his home in a working-class neighborhood in the city of Valencia

Why would a Major League baseball player, even if he's a lower paid one, not be able to afford a home in a neighborhood better than "working class" in Venezuela?

What are the odds that the CIA didn't pull any strings?

Glad to hear there's a happy ending.

If you're from a third-world country with a reputation for ransom kidnappings, going home after becoming filthy rich may be a colossally stupid idea.

Very happy to hear that.

Kidnapped Wilson Ramos found alive in mountains of Montalban in Venezuela. He must have in a position to demand "nothing". The Kidnappers, on the other hand, were in a position to "grant" nothing.

/voting not enabled- i dont care.

As much as your family might dislike it, it's time to move them to the U.S.

Thank goodness.

Here's hoping that he's also uninjured and that he seriously thinks about moving out of Venezuela.

Finally, some good news.

FTFA: CARACAS, Venezuela - Venezuelan police commandos rescued Washington Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos and arrested three of his abductors Friday, two days after he was kidnapped, officials said.

Justice Minister Tareck El Aissami said on state television that Ramos was "safe and sound" and that he was rescued by police and National Guard commandos.

WTF? Is Al-Qaeda running the military in Venezuela?

Working-class neighborhood in Venezuela?

Wilson, I'm sorry, but you can't go home again.

Cat With Two Heads: Because there is absolutely no violent crime here?

Because the US hasn't completely eradicated violent crime, it is just as bad as a place where ransom kidnappings are routine.

False dichotomy is false.

Yeah but it is league minimum $400,000 right around which after taxes is still $280,000. A good house in a nice neighborhood in Venuzulea has to at most $299.99.

I challenge you to name the last time an athlete native to this country was kidnapped and held for ransom in this country. In fact, I challenge you to name the last time an athlete of any country was kidnapped and held for ransom in this country. Kidnappings of athletes, politicians, dissidents, people with money, native celebrities, etc, is a routine occurrence in South America. We in the USA only kidnap poor ghetto folk and rich white girls.

Im guessing that's where he grew up, I don't see why all of these guy's who make it in MLB just don't move all their family members to a safer country or secure neighborhood. This shiat seems to dangerous to live normal down there.

Marcus Aurelius: What are the odds that the CIA didn't pull any strings?

Close to zero. This was all the police's doing. Notice it took only 2 days to find him....there was "heavy gunfire", but no casualties... The police messed up and took a higher profile suspect than they should have. They realized they farked up and staged a rescue in every sense of the word.

/became well aware of how the police worked after a friends jet skis were stolen. He filed a police report and the cops offered to "find" the property for a fee...The fee was paid and the jet skis were promptly returned trailer and all.

No, because it's less likely for them to be KIDNAPPED AT GUNPOINT BY MONEY-HUNGRY MERCENARIES.

/unless he was traded to Oakland, at least.
