Now which Leafs goalie is this Reimer character? Is he the bad one?

RumsfeldsReplacement: Now which Leafs goalie is this Reimer character? Is he the bad one?

He's the leader of the Autobots.

I finally get to watch a Stars game, great matchup so far, I really wonder if they are finally legit again. Sorry for the threadjack but it's pretty awesome to see them somewhat relevant again while maintaining their vintage style of hard nosed hockey.

Ron Wilsons reaction to this was farking awesome, especially post-game in St. Louis when he was asked about who would start Saturday. "I don't know, maybe I'll call their moms and figure it out." Guy may be a dick but he's pure gold for soundbytes.

fark wilson. we have the crappiest PK and PP and our farm team has the one of the best PP and PK in the AHL...how has he not capitalized on that?

oh yeah, this coach couldn't get the league leading Sharks past the 2nd round most years

I hate his coaching style but if we could just transplant his personality onto a new, competent guy, I'd love it.

And yeah, that comment was pure gold.

Reimer is the best goalie the Leafs have had in quite some time. Gustavsson is the bad one. I like him, but he is not an NHL-calibre goalie. Scrivens will take his spot soon.

I think Gustavsson could be a competent back-up, which is always good to have and his contract isn't bloated unlike say, Craig Anderson. Yeah Ottawa, you got that for three more years.

Ugh, what a terrible trade that was. Anderson is NOT A GOOD GOALIE. And Ottawa's defence is basically Eric Karlsson and Sergei Gonchar, who plays like Kovalev, and that is not a compliment.

I disagree. I think Gustavsson is only truly good when he's got a hot streak going. Being a backup requires coming in with large breaks in-between games played, and I don't think he can handle that.

He's a really mediocre starter. That's it.

Remember how many people were saying how brutal that trade was for the Avalanche. Now let's look at it: Brian Elliot is off the books, the Avs have Varlamov and a seemingly reinvigorated Jiggy. I can tell you who is laughing at who now.

Yeah, Colorado definitely won. I don't know enough about Robin Lehner but I get the feeling that he could be a competent backup.

As for the Avs getting Jiggy....well, that's only good until Jiggy tears another muscle. He's about due for another month off.

Lehner's always been "the goalie of the future" in the Sens organization. The trade makes a bit more sense if you consider it as what it essentially was--a stopgap until Lehner is NHL-ready. It didn't make much sense for the Sens to have two very young goalies with the big-league club at the same time. Keep Anderson for a few years as Lehner learns the ropes, and you're good to go.

The trade backfired insofar as Anderson couldn't recreate his success (and in fact, the trade may have been stupid because it assumed a long-time back-up with just one good year as a starter would sustain that level of play), but the logic behind it was fairly sound.

Oh the logic was good, I certainly see Lehner as an NHL goalie, but the 4 year deal is what made me do a double take. I understood that Anderson was a bridge but that seemed way too long. To me it looks like another bad deal Ottawa is going to have to eat in a year or two.

No problems with Anderson tonight, right Leaf fans?
