"People from disparate geographical locations hanging out with the homeless in harsh weather conditions may come down with something."

Thanks, Lou.

It's all the fault of the bankers that they are getting sick.

2011-11-11 02:05:05 PM
They've got the consumption?

What about dropsy?!?

2011-11-11 02:05:41 PM
The bigger question is: How long has Lindsey Lohan been sleeping down there?

TFA Moneyshot: There is also the increased risk among the encampment of sexually transmitted diseases, said the doctor, Dr. Philip M. Tierno, Jr. of the NYU Langone Medical Center. And the site's pounding circles could lead to hearing damage.

I'm less concerned about the hearing damage from a 'pounding circle' than I am about the STDs I might catch at one.

WTFDYW: It's all the fault of the bankers that they are getting sick.

Yes it is. If they hadn't bought off the Government, regulations would still be in place and the crash of '08 wouldn't have happened. And nobody would be protesting.

FINALLY, THEY CAN ALL LEAVE!!!

the impetus behind the protests is a stretch but +1 subby. Your use of poetic license for the pun is a-ok.

Some protesters have refused free flu shots, citing a "government conspiracy," the Times said.

Idiots. You have more in common with right-wing militias than you realize.

2011-11-11 02:17:37 PM
They'll now be biatching and wanting free healthcare because they were too farking stupid to get in out of the weather and not share each others germs.

Farkem.

Hey, hey! Don't let the reverse vampires or the saucer people off scot-free! Are you sure your tinfoil hat is fitted properly?

What you mean their "medical tent" with a couple of bottles of tylenol and some bandaids staffed by an english major can't treat this?

2011-11-11 02:20:44 PM
Why is it Ironic? Does protesting normally protect one from disease?

2011-11-11 02:20:53 PM
Dirty damn Hippies.

2011-11-11 02:22:08 PM
Seeing as how winter is right around the corner, these guys better switch up their methods. So far this occupy movement is spreading, but I don't see law makers/bankers/companies shiatting in their pants yet.

They have already refused the free healthcare they were offered. It sure is a good thing there are lots of windows down there for these people to lick.

that's pretty funny but things are only getting worse. I am glad you do not feel this undercurrent of unrest, yet, and wish you prosperity

Around here when it gets cold (i.e. 24/7) the hobos warm up with Royal Gate vodka.

Royal Gate vodka: when you've given up on life.

I wonder if any of you idiots would talk crap about the guys that get sick going off to war. Oh but wait, civil disobedience isnt war, its unpatriotic. Right. Bunch of effing Loyalists.

I don't think every protester has every detail worked out but I still think they are being more patriotic to go protest, a hell of a lot more than you jackwagons sitting here with your thumbs up your behinds mocking them do.

Could this finally be the start of the zombie apocalypse? Please. Please let it be so.

2011-11-11 02:26:55 PM
Maybe if we had a real health care system instead of the watered-down crap that was the PPACA (paid for by loads of "campaign contributions" to Lieberman and co from big business.) we wouldn't have tuberculosis in this country to begin with and even the homeless could get medical care.

TB in Atlanta, suicide in Vermont, murder in Oakland. Welcome to the Occupy movement.

Yesterday an article said protesters were getting TB. The week before that, STDs. Besides some coughing (which I'm doing in my nice warm house) I haven't read any real evidence of real health risks . . . unless you count the Oakland Police.

2011-11-11 02:28:06 PM
They are standing around in an area at high risk for infectious disease... but really, why would they start making good decisions at THIS point in their lives? This is only the last in a long line of dumb decisions, for them.

Occupy!

Interesting insight into the society-organizing skills collected in the park. Can't handle basic sanitation and disease control. Boy, that's JUST the team of thinkers I want driving the reorganization of our social structure.

/people get paid for getting things done
//those who can't get things done...protest

So... then the people with the "Free Hugs" signs are actually bio-terrorists?

I'm sure they'll find a way to twist this into being police brutality.

THIS.

The United States was founded on protest. But still you see people saying that they're wasting their time and that no change ever comes from protesting.

Democracy doesn't mean sitting on your ass and voting once every 4 years. It means getting out in your community and making changes for the positive.

Flu, respiratory infections and norovirus are pretty much a given in close quarters like that where there is also a lot of people coming and going. They do have homeless people among them so TB isn't out of the question.

Corruption in the government and bribes being handed out to get legislation which led to these problems isn't a crazy conspiracy theory. It's not even unique to the USA, it's going on in every country in the world. Money makes right.

When Bush was President, protest was, "The highest form of patriotism." When Obama became President, protest became "racism..." but now we're back to protest being cool and patriotic, again.

Oh, and they know Obama is part of the 1%, right? Racists!

Also, the more I think about it, the people attending these Occupy! rallies may be the dumbest people in the country. I am not saying that as hyperbole, I really mean it. These people are painfully stupid, have made bad decisions all their lives in regards to their debt load and educational choices and the viral breeding grounds in which they choose to hang out, and none of them really have any idea what they are protesting about beyond, "I want more stuff."
