If the stuff happening with Penn State was in a movie script, you'd never sell it because it's so improbable.

What are the odds this scandal ties in with Watergate somehow?

/JoePa did get denied a national championship when Nixon awarded it to Texas before the bowl games were even played

And I'm sure that Joe Paterno didn't know about this at all. Just like he was blissfully unaware of why Sandusky "chose" to retire in 1999.

I don't see the conflict of interest here. Just because he was the appointed outside council for the University who employed the accused, while also representing the accused's Non-Profit, which was allegedly used to pimp out young boys. So he was the lawyer appointed to review the allegations against Sandusky. What? Was this a problem? Should he not have done that?

Joe Paterno had records to break. Winning games and setting records is all that mattered to him and to the rest of those involved with this scandal.

i'm telling you it was an ongoing cover-up since 1998. the 2002 shower incidence just added a few more folks to the cover-up.

Sandusky's fate

2011-11-11 02:00:01 PM
Paterno: What should I do?
Should I admit I'd made mistakes?
Should I remind you I've done this before?
Should I give you a history lesson?
What should I do?
Should I tell you have much fun we had?

Should I really believe I ruined my legacy?
What should I do?
What should I do?
What should I do?

Should I have had my coach removed?
Wanna see my shinning championship trophies?
Should I just sell tickets?
Or should I tell you I am not a role mode?
Gotcha
Seriously, what should I do?
Should I tell you I'm a champion chaser?
Did it for the money?
Should I be who you want me to be?
Should I except my role?
As a villain?
Maybe I should just disappear.

Should I stop listening to my friends?
They're my friends.

Should I try acting?
Should I be writing this down?

Should I make you laugh?
Should I read you a soulful poem?
Shopt me with your words.
You may cut me with your eyes
But still like air, I'll rise.

Should we just clear the deck and start over?
What should I do?

Should I be who you want me to be?

the nebraska game is going to be pr catastrophe for PSU, and I predict the BoT will terminate the season next week. The only way out of this is to hire Urban Meyer and have him fire everyone on the football staff on Tuesday.

Plus there is a limited market for movies with boys getting raped in showers.

You know, outside of the mahogany halls of Penn State football coaches.

If you look closely you'll see it's actually Thermite pouring out of the 11 year old's ass, proving that it wasn't Sandusky that slammed into him and causing structural failure.

Every time I hear about this story I think of the Law and Order: SVU episode "Personal Fouls" where a big shot NBA player admits he was raped by his coach that ran a teen mentoring program. Usually, L&O stories are based off real events. This one seemed to based off a conviction that hadn't happened yet.

Just sayin'

That wouldn't help a damn thing, and it would cost the Big10 conference as a whole tens of millions of dollars. This has nothing to do with football and everything to do with rape. You can't fix rape by trying to fix football.

Stretch? While acting as counsel for one client he learned intimate details that another one his clients was committing terrible crimes that would affect the original client and that he might have to end up defending one of them? He remained in this conflicting position for approx 12 years?

"reviewed that police report on behalf of the school before submitting it to the Centre Country District Attorney" I doubt "reviewed" in this context just means he read it.

Just RICO the whole damn mess now and get the Feds involved.

You could if this was just a horror movie, the way the leadership at Penn State treated it. Unfortunately it is real life, and you will have to hide your head very deep to hear nothing more of this

Well, it had happened in hockey before, Theo Fleury being one of the people noted for having been raped as a kid.

/not the best way to describe how terrible it is, but part of Fleury's own words: "I tried to make it go away with alcohol and drugs and hookers"

He wouldn't but it's the only way for the BoT to change the story. Hi Urban, yeah, Governor Corbett here, how does 5 mil a year sound....ok, how does 10 mil in the first year and 7.5 a year thereafter sound.... Otherwise, day after day, week after week, PSU is just going to get hammered on this. And they can't bring in some no name, they have to bring someone sufficiently famous to change the story line. I can think of Meyer, maybe Cowher, someone to give the talking heads something else to talk about. Otherwise, the rest of the season is going to be a nightmare, and by the end of it, they will have wished they cancelled it.

And it has to be someone who never went to or worked for PSU.

I'm not a PSU alum, but I am sure as hell watching the game tomorrow.

Son of a biatch! If only I'd started up my little-tiny-blue-ribbbon factory in time! You can bet that Saturday's game will feature 10's of thousands of little-tiny-blue-ribbons!

I could have been rich peddling those things to people who think it makes them care about child abuse.

Mark my words. Blue ribbons on the announcers' lapels, on the coach's jackets, on the player's helmets, on every brat in the student section. Because it means they care.

His family said he would have left a note if that were the case and never would have done this. Sarcasm? He also disappeard his own body and destroyed the hard drive to his laptop before dumping it into the river.
This Courtney character needs to get his license revoked and face serious jail time.
As this unfolds more names will be revealed. It should be a good weekend there.
McQueary seems to be the least culpable at this point. I doubt he was able to report it properly or had extremely strong persuasion not to.

Sure - Turns out there were all sorts of coaches, ex-players and administrators at Penn State who knew this stuff was going on. They knew it was going on but did what they could to cover it up and hide it to save their reputation. They purposely turned a blind eye to Sandusky raping children and pimping them out to rich donors to rape and abuse. This had been going on for decades, to dozens upon dozens of kids.

That's where I think this is going.

A child was raped in the showers of the football team's locker room, which was witnessed by a GA of the football program, and reported to the head coach of the football team, (neither of whom ever repported it to CPS or to the police) and the administration of the school covered it up. It has everything to do with the football program.
