It would be nice if the Republican party would comprehend that discouraging rent-seeking behavior in large corporations is generally considered a good thing.

But wait, they apparently only give a crap about large corporations. Not even small business, which is helped by net neutrality.

These idiots have no idea what Net Neutrality is thanks to retarded scare mongers like Glenn Beck.

Cements the fact that the GOP still have a firm grip on the corporate cock in their mouths.

Oh, they know exactly what it is. They just use the Glenn Beck stuff to confuse their base about what they are doing and who's interest they are representing.

Why do people vote for Republicans again? God Americans are stupid.

2011-11-11 10:05:31 AM
Getting rid of net neutrality will create jobs. It just will, alright?!

2011-11-11 10:05:32 AM
The wingnuts are gonna be furious once they realize their Republicans have effectively destroyed their ability to discreetly and cheaply look at rentboy porn.

Can't wait for Anonymous and Lulsec to go after the GOP hard.

They know exactly what it is. They also know that eliminating it will, with the help of their corporate masters, help them to control speech on the internet.

Now companies will be allowed to extort you for more bandwidth.

Want youtube? Fark you, pay me more.
Want ESPN.com? Fark you, pay me more.
Want FARK? Fark you, pay me more.

Frankly this is just more evidence that both sides are bad

"Over the past 20 years, the Internet has grown and flourished without burdensome regulations from Washington," said Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas), who led the push in the Senate to overturn the rules.

And this is a "moderate" Republican.

Verizon wants to charge customers $5 every time they want their data to receive priority on the network.

THAT is what Net Neutrality is about. Period.

Is the job of a 21st-century toll collector not a job?

I still can't quite understand what Net Neutrality ACTUALLY is and what it means for us.

Yep, be prepared for an avalanche of trolls here saying to just switch ISPs if you don't like it.

Irrespective of the fact a good chunk of America has no options at all for high speed internet due to local monopolies, this has fark all to do with your ISP. This is the big boys working to squeeze out the little guys

As a thought experiment for the coming troll brigade, imagine that George Soros takes over Level3 and proceeded to send a note to Fox News demanding $100/million a year or they get prioritized below penis enlargement spam. (MSNBC traffic gets a free pass) You're ok with that, right? Because it would be perfectly fine for him to do if he's allowed to set his own traffic priorities, rather than simply agreeing to peer equally and carry all traffic without looking at the source.

Now that won't happen in reality of course. But any small competitor to one of the big guys will be crushed, instantly and effortlessly by the same methods.

CPennypacker: Why do people vote for Republicans again? God Americans are stupid.

I was reading an online article about the Senate vote yesterday, and in the comments section there were huge swaths of tea-tards who thought this literally meant that there was a government take over of the internet, and Fartbongo was going to order Men In Black to goosestep to private ISPs and rip the servers out of their server room.

2011-11-11 10:15:40 AM
If net neutrality ends, we'll end up with the same shiat the cable and satellite companies pull to squeeze you for more cash.

2011-11-11 10:17:19 AM
Due to willful ignorance, GOP shiatheads voted against their own interests and farked over the common man yet again.

So, same as it ever was.

Net Neutrality restricts freedom; the freedom of the telecommunications giants to restrict what you do on the internet.

I already pay for specific class of internet service. Why should I have to pay again just so my service isn't throttled somewhere upstream?

What they are doing is protecting the interests of telecommunications conglomorates. They do this by pretending they think Net Neutrality is an internet fairness doctrine, and then making all of their idiot constituents believe them.

Nope, not getting internet for free. I just don't have to pay my ISP for accessing creative content they had no involvement in creating.

Stated reason is it's a reduction of liberty and freedom, and they want to prevent a government takeover of the internet, and stop the government from spying on people.

No, really, stop laughing.

They seriously say that regulation of the internet "kills jobs." And Grover Norquist will be angry at them. Seriously:

Net neutrality will "cost hundreds of thousands of American jobs" (new window)

For the first time in a long time I had to write a senator. I gotta say, I really had high hopes for Kay Bailey. But she's failed miserably. MISERABLY.

As great as this news is, I am far more concerned that this is seeming likely to pass--- as it is far worse.
