James!: Dear shiatting god. What is wrong with these people?

Some people get way too obsessive about college sports.

2011-11-11 09:04:47 AM
We shouldn't jump to conclusions - this article doesn't say why the fans are sending death threats. Subby is assuming it's over JoePa's firing. When I first heard about the death threats, I assumed it was because noone wanted to see a snivelling opportunist who was more concerned about his future in the State College "ol' boys" network than the wellbeing of a child.

Wasn't the problem that he DIDN'T blow the whistle? Maybe that's why he's getting death threats.

Maybe he thought he would wind up in the Susquehanna. We don't have all the facts, and this isn't a jump to conclusions game.

Huh? The headline is implying that Penn State fans are sending McQueary death threats for blowing the whistle on Sandusky. I'm pointing out that he actually never really blew the whistle on Sandusky and in fact, never went to the police about the fact that he was an EYEWITNESS to molestation. All I'm doing is saying there is an at least equally valid reason to assume he's getting death threats.

There wasn't a whistleblower. That's why it's a scandal.

2011-11-11 09:38:52 AM
If there wasn't a whistleblower, con someone explain why this jackass is still employed by the college?

Cause all I heard in the other thread was how he was probably under whistleblower protection.

This is reaching tree-poisoning levels of stupid.

fark it. Kill the program, bulldoze the stadium and leave that shiat lying there for the next 15 years so people have to look at it and remember.

Everyone that I've seen express anger at McQuery is doing so because he walked in on a child being raped and didn't stop it.

I thought he was under "don't air our dirty laundry in public and we'll promote you" protection.

2011-11-11 09:42:43 AM
As far as I'm concerned, he's as culpable as anyone. The fact that he seems to be the only one that's going to keep his job after this maelstrom angers me greatly.

I think they meant they believe he's under protection not because he was a whistle blower but because he is listed in the grand jury report, so he can't be fired while it's pending (really not sure about the legalities involved, someone correct me if I'm wrong). There's a big difference between whistle blowing and being summoned for a grand jury after the authorities finally decide to do something about these shiatting dick nipples.

Pavia_Resistance: Everyone that I've seen express anger at McQuery is doing so because he walked in on a child being raped and didn't stop it.

Same here. Sportscasters on Sirius yesterday were speculating that the only reason he still has a job is that Penn State fears that if he's fired he won't testify at all, and they won't be able to put this behind them.

They also opened up another interesting line of thought - how many people knew about this and covered it up? Apparently several schools were interested in him as a head coaching candidate, but he never even got an interview anywhere. The sportscaster speculated that schools called Penn State to feel it out, then once they heard the news, backed away. So, in all of college football, there may be many, many ADs who know about it.

Kinda puts players at OSU getting free tattoos in perspective, dontit?

I still think he should get fired. His inaction was the worst one of them all.

I don't think they should kill the program. There are too many good people currently in the program who have worked too hard to get their careers killed. They didn't know anything about this.

However, they should force PSU to play an all-road schedule for the next 10 years or so. That way the program remains for those who were innocent but the school loses a ton of revenue.

Last night the national news played a short clip of Tom Bradley. He was saying how McQueary was still going to be on staff and how he would be at Saturday's game. They just don't get it over there. Essentially:

MFAWG: fark it. Kill the program, bulldoze the stadium and leave that shiat lying there for the next 15 years so people have to look at it and remember.

No, you wouldn't.

/Or you would and you would end up as a full time whistle blower in the klink

2011-11-11 09:51:31 AM
Pretty sure the threats stem from him turning his back on a 10 year old boy being raped. Not that I am excusing them, mind you.

2011-11-11 09:51:55 AM
Oh FFS. Could you imagine the outrage if the guy actually were a whistle blower?

Listen, PSU, I know you're going through a traumatic experience but there's something you need to know: Joe Paterno is a arrogant old bastard who hasn't coached your football team in close to a decade. He's a figurehead whose obstinate refusal to retire has not only stagnated your football program, but set the offense back decades. GTFOver it.

Of course, in the face of child rape, college football is as trivial as trivial can be--except in Creepy Valley, where any witnesses to child rape better keep their mouths shut lest "JoePa" be fired before the big Nebraska game.

/And those victims had better keep quiet too if they know what's good for them, amirite?
//Sucks to be one of the handful of reasonable PSU students. I can't imagine their embarrassment right now.

From what I understood, he was actually 28.

Even then, the dad should have told him to do something, but didn't because McQeary Sr. is friends with Sandusky.

That's putting way too much thought into it.

Penn State fans condone the rape of children.

Much simpler and obvious.

Not saying it's right.

Let the feds do their job and sort this out.
the campus, local and state police have had their shot at it and failed, miserably.

I'm pretty sure the death threats he's receiving are because he was a 6'5" man who witnessed child rape happening and neither A) stopped it, nor B) called the police. They are angry that all he did was report it to Paterno hours later.

How about showing support for the victims? No? Football is more important....

And how is that the players' fault?

Look, I agree with Spaniard and Paterno getting the boot, I believe many others should get it too -- specially McQueary, but the PSU players are getting dragged into this by no fault of their own.

That's what I heard too. I could see how some 18-22 year old, seeing a guy you worked in Sandusky, and maybe even idolized growing up doing something like that, gives you a "WTF did I just see?" moment. Then panicking and calling his dad and then going to Paterno. But the grad assistant was 28 and knew what was going on and: 1. Did nothing to stop it. 2. Didn't report it immediately to the police.

2011-11-11 10:01:19 AM
I'm surprised and saddened that this game is even going on this weekend. Someone at the B1G or NCAA should just come out and say:

"Yeah, perhaps the rape of pubescent children and the subsequent institutional cover-up and shiatstorm it has caused is more important than this particular football game. Let's go ahead and cancel or postpone this match." If a cancellation occurs, give NE the W and go on with it.

But, then again, there's money to be made, damn the boy rape. Collateral damage.

Between the sports fans and Pennsyltucky, they can pretty much bulldoze the entire state and nothing of value will be lost.

Moron. Moran.

I'm not surprised, but I am surprised that Sandusky hasn't gone into police protection yet. He's the one that should be getting the death threats, after all; if he hadn't been raping little boys, none of this would have ever taken place.
