Bad career choice, dude.

Amazing men those SEALs. Glad his parents found this. It's amazing how those elite units really do draw the best and brightest that we have to offer as a country. It's like the greatest challenge you can place on yourself and they'll be damned if anyone will tell them they can't do it.

RIP Frog Man.

That's a very sweet story. It's nice that he has a legacy.

Or great career choice... The value of his works just skyrocketed.

After I'm done with my selfish phase I'm joining the SEALs.

You know who else worked as an artist before he decided it would be more fun to kill a while bunch of people?

2011-11-11 10:09:57 AM
What a shiatty video. Stereo interviews? Really? Ooooohhh, fancy. And the advertisement beforehand was tasteless. I'd like to see the actual works, though.

2011-11-11 10:10:10 AM
Isn't that a secret team? With a public roster or what?

/guess he liked killing more than painting

BTW "career as an artist" hits my brain sideways.

I gave up my career as a X to become an artist. X=TBD

I'm still poor and wondering what I'm going to do when I grow up.

Yep.

I'll save my rant against war or military deaths for another day.

I can see why it was hidden.

Interesting how we don't even notice the newspeak that permeates our lives.

Fallen? Oh, you mean DEAD.

2011-11-11 10:26:49 AM
Ahh, the artsy sensitive type of SEAL. The one that can kill you in so many imanginative, and expressive ways.

/knew a green beret who was a folk singer when he wasn't doing green beret stuff. Pretty cool guy actually

Amazing talent. What a shame.

This whole thing reminds me of the Pat Tillman story. What if the military found out he was the 'sensitive' type, being as talented as he was. The common low IQ mindset always pairs artists/creative people, especially men, as sensitive, free thinkers, liberal and probably atheist. Which naturally leads to assumptions of homosexuality.

And I'm not suggesting Pat Tillman was gay. I'm just pointing out a pattern of well known intolerance to people who are different, who happen to serve in the US Christian military.

Thank you for your service and body of work Joshua Harris. I wish you could have lived to reap the rewards of your rare talent.

Mysterious symbols and pointed crowns? Sounds like his "folks" didn't know about another club he was a part of.

2011-11-11 10:39:40 AM
How much do you want to be that he hid all those paintings in the barn because his father disapproved of him being an artist.

That was one hellishly poorly written article. Does no one understand the use of quotation marks anymore?

Not to be too much of a snark, but where can you drown during combat operations in Afghanistan?

In his defense, none of them actually worked.

"drowned on a combat mission in Afghanistan "

No one else thinks this is odd or fishy? It's Afghanistan, for christ's sake.

Well of course they're not gonna work right when you leave one piece out of the reflective conductor core. Sheesh!

I thought he designed the "modern" trebuchet? My history is rusty, I could be wrong.

Check out Discovery's Surviving the Cut on Netflix streaming - it doesn't follow Navy SEALs but it does show many of the lesser heralded training schools for US Special Forces. The tryouts are hellacious no matter what you do. My personal favorites were the Air Force ParaRescue - medics who will go to the ends of the earth under the most awful conditions to save their comerades and can kill you six ways before you hit the ground.

Thank you for your service and all that. The art however was complete crap. I wouldn't hang that up on my wall if until threats of violence on my family were thrown around. I guess this is the part where I tell the thread that the onionjuice on my hands is making my asshole cry. Or looking at the "art". One of them made me all weepy.
