But protecting kiddie-diddlers is done from the SEATED position. So he's really still at 100%.

I wonder how many will devote their time and money to "pray" for this bastard instead of actually doing something here in the real world?

I guess covering up for people who rape children is to be commended now. My mistake. BTW the brain damage is from a medical condition - if it makes me the type of person that doesn't defend the pope - best brain damage ever!

Really, are you talking about individual people who are actually responsible or smearing a whole group of people to satisfy your prejudice? Are you going to start some camps to round up Catholics in?
Not Catholic, just tired of hearing this shiat over and over.

Not all Catholics. Just him, the other guys who helped cover up the abuse going on, and of course the people actually doing the abuse.

If only there was a magical being that one could talk or perhaps pray to, to relive suffering and pain.. Wait I think I remember some organization saying there was one, what group was that?

I mean seriously people do we need the pope to die from a three hour televised epileptic seizure before you start realizing everything about the Christian belief system is bullshiat?

You're too generous. I would include anyone who gives a dime to the Church. They are actively funding the cover-ups and relocation of these monsters. If any secular corporation was guilty of this they would be gone decades ago.

I personally see Catholic Church leadership as quite reasonable and acceptable targets for coverup criticism. Random uninvolved Catholics and clergy, not so much.

So when I specifically say THE POPE in my comments regarding an article about the Pope I am really talking about all Catholics and smearing their name. I guess it must be my brain damage. As for you being tired of hearing about what they did, I'm terribly sorry, next time I will bring up something less repetitive like money laundering! Or perhaps it's just about my guilt that I used to help raise money for Catholic schools because my mother works at one and I feel complicit in giving money to such an organization.

Who knows! As for camps to round up Catholics...it's funny you should mention that because it lets me mention the Nazi Youth Party. Though I am sure you are tired of hearing about that too.

Because prayer doesn't mean you get everything you ask for. [insert debate about prayer here]

I honestly don't think anyone expects that a Pope, no matter how virtuous he might be, is immune from sickness or infirmity.

Psalms: "I have gone from young to old, and never have I seen a righteous man foresaken, his children begging for food" is not to be taken literally.

// of course, the cynic in me is saying "BECAUSE HE'S NOT VIRTUOUS"
// and the nonbeliever in me is saying "because cells, pathogens and entropy don't care what holy book you read"

It's nice that we have these prophets among us who just know which parts of the Bible are literal and which aren't.

Last time I checked, the pope was keen on the goals of OWS: http://www.npr.org/2011/10/26/141659992/occupy-wall-streets-most-unlik ely-ally-the-pope

And last time I checked, didn't Jesus preach to give up all worldly possessions? The pope, on the other hand, is pretty well dressed.

Well, something as easily disprovable as that is a good candidate for metaphor. Also, the fact that the Talmud discussed that very topic (is it supposed to be literal or not) about 1500 years ago. It's hardly a secret.

Do you need prophets to tell you which parts of Moby Dick were metaphors, too?

// a good hint - almost everything in Psalms is a metaphor for something - mountains do not actually skip like rams, and water does not change its flow according to the culture of people standing on its banks (Ps. 114)
// but, as I'm Jewish, there is probably some other opinion refuting mine
// and that's OK - "there are 70 faces of the Torah"

Dr Dreidel: Do you need prophets to tell you which parts of Moby Dick were metaphors, too?

No, because Moby Dick was never meant to be taken as anything but fiction and there aren't entire factions who believe every word of it is real.
