Hey Subby, don't harsh on the Bee.

Saw this last night. They should have flashed "Emmy-winning television series" across the bottom, the same as South Park did during their giant shiat episode. Even Stewart was shaking his head at the end about how over the top and unfunny the whole bit was.

Of all the possible Daily Show clips, that one gets the green light? That was terrible.

Doesn't he do that after every skit?

I love Stewart excepts when he goes all sycophant to certain people like Sandler. Call a Spade a David Spade - "Uh, I see here Adam that Rotten Tomatoes is saying that your new movie is worse than Gigli and The Hottie and the Nottie. Did you at least get to feel up Katie Holmes or what?"

I really enjoy the Daily Show and am a fan of Stewart. However, he's an executive producer on the show. I'm reasonably sure he could veto any bit he wanted.

The "Oh dear, I can't believe we're doing this, I'm so embarrassed" reaction is one of my least favorite things he does because of how artificial it seems.

/still like the show...
//aside from this example, he's usually pretty damn good about making scripted material seem spontaneous
///it's early, i'm probably being too harsh

8/10. You could almost be believable sometimes and then you shiat the bed.

My 'complete web experience' on an iPad will not let me see the clip.

That being said, I rarely find Stewart that funny. He's too predictable. You know where he's going to go with easily half of his jokes, and predictability is like cold water on humor.

And he does the same gags over and over and over again. The other people and bits are sometimes awesome, but if I could, I would skip over Jon Stweart's parts.

You forgot the part where you plug Glenn Beck's comedy club appearances.

I think he took that from Letterman, originally. The problem is it only works when the 'over the top' bit is actually funny. Last night's just missed the mark.

Could he? Don't they whip out the show in like a 10 hr run from write to airtime? I mean to say, once they have a bit filmed and realize it doesn't work, aren't they pretty much farked to keep it?

So STFU and GBTW.

That's part of why I love Colbert's interviews so much more...he tries to get as close to the line as he can get without getting punched. And since the other person (normally) knows it's a persona, he can get away with a LOT of shiat that wouldn't fly otherwise.

Normally I like the Daily Show. And his cracks about the individual pieces of the flub were great. It was just the boner thing that lost me. Can't expect the show to be 100% all the time! Why do you sound so upset?

Because I have a raging joy boner and it's tough to get into my car like this.

The boner thing wasn't funny, though it was saveable had Oliver turned around.

This episode (and the several before it) reinforced my opinion that TDS is at its absolute best without correspondents-cum-dead weight to get in the way of the political discussion. Same goes for when they have guests with something to say (even if it only proves they're full of shiat, like Pelosi) as opposed to Adam farking Sandler.

I can't believe a nexus of progress like TDS would still be using flash. I also can't believe opera mobile doesn't support flash.

I like really smart humor, and really stupid humor, which is why I laughed hardest when Wyatt and John Oliver "hid" their boners in the gayest way possible.

Why yes, I am still 14.

/How great was Beavis and Butthead last night?

It's called the "straight man" role in comedy. Not "straight" as in hetero, but to contrast the extremes. Laurel vs Hardy. &c.

Yes, this results in humor more often than not, but he also never gets the "oh snap, Stewart just owned this guy!" response. Colbert is consistent with his schtick and it's usually funny, Stewart either lets people off the hook completely (most often celebrities) or owns some right-wing farkhead.

Explaining comedy to right-wingers is about as fruitful as explaining Keynesian economics to them. Which is ironic, they gave us the Laffer curve, funny both literally and figuratively.

I thought the skit sucked. On the other hand, I scrolled down and saw the brief report on the PSU riots. Then I felt better.

Though sometimes explaining the joke can actually generate MORE comedy, depending on how ahead of the curve you are.

TDS doesn't just tilt at conservative windmills; remember that Jon Stewart has also decried the state of media and reporting.

This was one of those cases, showing a visual metaphor (so to speak) for how some reporters are inappropriately enjoying a particular verbal gaffe.

Way to miss the point.

It wasn't 'satire' at all. Libs are just disgusting shameless horndogs. Look at Mark Foley or John Edwards. Duh.

It wasn't a joke. They REALLY had boners. from gay sex.
