They served rat cake, rat sorbet, rat pudding, and strawberry tart.

Is beyond me. Should Australia revoke the guy's passport?

I'm guessing that alcohol was a factor.

Looks like a nutria. Plenty of Cajuns eat those.

I think the restaurant was lying.... Is it a coincedence that the popularity of Chinese Restuarants goes up and stray cat and dog populations go down...

Oh, no, I find that source of meat to be more aesthetically pleasing while living than another so I must be outraged.

If you've played Red Dead Redemption, you know that just about everything has meat.

Was thinking the same thing. It's like an American mistaking a pigeon for a bald eagle.

Are bamboo rats in danger of extinction? Because koalas sure as hell aren't.

Bamboo rats are fine. Koalas are "threatened."

Came to say the same thing. I believe they actually are related, this is just the Asian version.

Not a bad food source because they are herbivores. Unlike actual disease ridden rats.

What the hell? I expect to eat better than giant owls at my Chinese restaurant.

Hmmm...well the IUCN red list has them as "least concern", but there's only like 100,000 of them in the wild so I guess hunting them wouldn't be very healthy for the population.

Not a koala, just a Chinese bamboo rat

Commonly sold in food markets

Bizarre veil to protect designer clothes from make-up smudges

One of these things is not like the other....

A RESTAURANT in southern China that found itself at the centre of outrage for selling "koala meat" claims it was in fact selling a type of rat that bears a resemblance to the drowsy marsupial.

That's what I'm calling my penis from now on.

When i Lived near the Argyle el Stop in Chicago i was deeply concerned because my neighborhood had about 8 chinese restaurants withing a block of each other, and yet I never saw a single rat anywhere in the neighborhood or near their dumpsters. I was much reassured when i realized that the old Uptown Theatre down the block was host to about a half-dozen nesting pairs of falcons and that the graveyard behind my appartment was home to a pack of coyotes that numbered well over a dozen.

And that's why they must be farmed. You think cows would do well in the wild?
