Here's my problem with these kinds of reviews. One of the guys is upset that he thinks Sandler is resting on his laurels. I don't know which laurels those are, but whatever.

Why can't people just watch a movie for what it is without comparing it to every other movie certain people have done? Just watch the damn movie and either like it or dislike it.

People complain about typecasts but then they complain when a comedian does something serious. It's f*cking ridiculous. We already give Hollywood too much of our money and here we have some jackoff saying that "Jack and Jill" doesn't live up to Adam Sandler expectations.

It's stupid. It really is.

There is no way Sarah Palin's "Undefeated" beats this out. I don't care how shiat this movie is.

Nobody is surprised that this movie is getting bad reviews. From the trailers, it looks like the kind of flick Sandler's character in "Funny People" would have made.

Clearly, this isn't even a good Adam Sandler movie, let alone a good movie.

Haha yep. The guy's pretty much bulletproof. I gotta wonder if at this point in his career he just has bets going with his buddies to see how bad one of his movies has to be to actually bomb.

It's sad that people don't recognize true art until many years later. Several classics bombed at their release and were only accepted as great after time had passed.

That is the way this movie is shaping up. You'll see soon enough just how wrong you are.

Could be just that the movie sucks.

In this case, having seen the trailers, I would say it is a high probability.

Hey guys, it's me. Adam Sandler.

Perhaps you recognize me from my hilarious work in Happy Gilmore, or Billy Madison.
Some of you might even remember me from my SNL years.

Well, I've received a lot of concerned fan mail and I just wanted to reach out to you, my fans, and get something off of my chest.

One morning in the late spring of 1996 I woke up and said to myself "Self, it's time to make a career move. Starting today I'm going to totally suck ass"

Now, it took some work to make that turn around. There were quite a few funny moments in Bulletproof and The Wedding Singer. I was actually on mushrooms and not acting in Dirty Work. I have no idea what happened with Little Nicky, I'm not sure if I was trying to be funny or trying to not be funny in a funny way... and god damn Jack Nicholson for making Anger Management and, by proxy me, funny in '03. I thought if I got him drunk enough that whole film would blow chunks, turns out that one kinda back fired on me.

Finally, after I thought all was lost and I'd never, truly, be terrible, Don Cheadle taught me how to act. Together we made what is an excellent (but unfunny) movie called Reign Over Me. We harnessed the combined power of homelessness and 9/11 for the most depressing shiat ever.

Foks, I'm happy to say, that movie shattered my funny bone and I don't think it will ever heal again.

I'm raising a glass as I type this, cheers to me! 4 years of sucking complete and utter ass. Here's to 4 more! (or 40!). And I couldn't have done it without all of you. So I'll make you a deal, you keep coming to my movies, and I'll keep sucking ass in them.

Regards,

Former funny heavyweight champion of the world;
Adam Sandler

p.s. yes, I did get to bang Drew Barrymore
p.p.s Winona Rider was better (crazy chicks always are!)

You know, [I acknowledge you're trolling here bla bla bla] generally history is kind to people who throw their passion into a work and are indifferent to what modern society cares about their image. Kubrick was always called "too ambitious" or what-farking-ever about each project. People completely overlooked Douglas Sirk's irony and social commentary in his sappy melodramas the first time around because it was wrapped around the shiatty genre of "woman's films."

And honestly, if 50-year-old Jonathan Hohensee where to pop from a time portal and get front of me and say "You know High School Musical? Yeah, it's going revered as one of the greatest films of your generation." I'd be a little stunned, but I'd probably accept it mostly because the film has a shiatload of passion and energy behind it. (Although I'd be suspicious why High School Musical 2 - the clearly better film - wasn't being recognized)

Hell, I'd even spend the time to read some criticism that would argue the artistic merits of Happy Gilmore or Billy Madison. I'd buy that.

But I'd wager my arm that nobody is going to pay undivided attention to the cash-grab of an aging, indifferent comedian at the twilight of his career. To use classic film as a metric, this is Adam Sandler's Buddy Buddy, not his Some Like it Hot.

Even the previews I've occasionally seen for this movie have not had a shred of humor in them. shiat is real bad when they don't even have the good parts to spoil in that 30 second commercial.

It didn't even give the faintest hint that it could be "so bad - it's good."

I've liked some of his films, and even stomached through his animated Christmas special.

Wouldn't it be nice if we were older
Then we wouldn't have to wait so long
And wouldn't it be nice to live together
In the kind of world where we belong

There is that too. Hey, I've got nothing against the guy. He seems nice, takes care of his friends. It's not his fault he doesn't have to make a better movie to make money. People keep spending their money, I'm sure he'll be happy to keep churning that shiat out.

Mugato: I just read Pacino is in this. WTF?

I'd like to think that the way it works is: Pacino wanders onto a set halfway through filming and says, "WHAT KIND OF SHOW ARE YOU GUYS PUTTIN' ON HERE TODAY?" and they have to give him something because he's Pacino.

There really is no "good" Adam Sandler movie . He has the same acting talent range as a Kardashian or a Hilton without the slut appeal.

My wife made me watch Spanglish, and I'll be damned if Sandler isn't a much better actor when he drops the slapstick crap that he's no good at.

Let this be a lesson to budding young comedic actors. Yelling louder doesn't make you funny.

There seems to be some real debate among these reviewers if it even ought to be called a movie at all. I get the feeling that if some of these people were to find themselves alone in a room with Mr. Sandler and various swingable metal objects, the world would have one less washed-up comedian.
