No. Don't blame yourself. Blame the juice.

Am I wrong, but is fruit juice now considered to be quite unhealthy on the grounds that it contains all of the sugar of several pieces of fruit with none of the fibre?

Go cry into your brown water, subby.

2011-11-11 06:54:15 AM
The won't burn it, it'll just be "strawberry" flavored corn syrup, banana flavored corn syrup, etc. Nothing healthy there.

"But the purchase, Starbucks' attempt to "reinvent the $1.6-billion super-premium juice segment," is just a stepping stone into the $50-billion health and wellness sector, the company said Thursday."

Isn't the consumer paradise Americans have built for themselves just swell? really makes life worth living.

No, it won't. They're going for an all-natural whole ingrediants kind of thing, trying to jump in on that health nut market. A good idea normally, but this is Starbucks we're talking about. Just 3 years ago they suffered heavily for the business sin of overexpansion and now Howard's doing it all over again. Someone needs to stop giving that guy authority.

The list of what is bad for you is endless.

Moderation is the key.

I just got an Omega VRT 330 juicer last week...

Also, I JUST made a smooth delicious Ecuadorian highlands coffee from Seven Hills Coffee from my french press, so I'm also getting a kick out of you poor Starbucks drinkers...

I went to Jamba Juice. I think I paid something like $6 for a glass of juice.

Haven't gone back.

Jamba Juice used to make these huge killer shakes when they first started out. Stuff gave you a rush.

Great. Can't wait to hear the juice orders by high-maintenance Sbux customers: "Hi, I'd like a venti half-grapefruit, half-pineapple blend NO PULP with a shot of room-temperature carrot on the side."

It sorta is. If you don't like it, you can vote on the matter by drinking something else. If nobody likes it, it'll go away, Crystal Pepsi style.

my personal fav right now for breakfast is fresh pineapple, mango, and papaya, mixed with coconut water, and organic acai.

A good dinnertime juice is 6 Kale leaves, 2 Granny Smith apples, 4 Celery, 1/2 a lemon

Starbucks recently expanded their breakfast offerings due to targeted competition from McDonalds.

McDonalds started doing frozen coffee beverages so Starbucks started doing hot egg sandwiches and other offerings.

They also reportedly will be offering a lighter coffee for those who prefer coffee that isn't as strong as Starbucks current offering. Not sure when that is scheduled to launch.

I am at a Starbucks now and the line is outside the door. There's no sale or specials being offered yet they have a lot of traffic in recent weeks.

Doing the super duper pasteurizing thing they mentioned in TFA is basically burning it by juice standards.

This always gets me about companies like Starbucks. You spend years creating a great business model: Coffee and some cakes. Then some trend comes along and you decide to tack that on the side. Before long your original, successful business is so weighed down with half-baked ideas that no one wants to go there.

It's the business equivalent of feature-creep.

2011-11-11 10:12:39 AM
Great. So now we'll see yuppie juice stores on every other farking corner, in every city, in every country.

Get farked, Starbucks.

Just bought one of these and a burr grinder. Awesome. The Starbucks Komodo Dragon bean is pretty damn good.

In my old town, all we had was Jamba Juice. Thank God. I moved and was exposed to the horror of Orange Julius and all the other crap smoothie makers. Part ice, part apple/pineapple juice, and part X-berry premade sugary syrup is no way to make a smoothie!!!

How many people are being ripped off by them , under the guise of "quality" coffee? It's sad.

I've been in seattle for twenty years. For about the first 15 years I was here I was one of the cool kids and always went out of my way to avoid starbucks. Not sure what happened but I got over it - probably from making frequent trips to visit my family in Alabama where one prays for a starbucks because, damn, those people will tolerate some weak ass coffee. And coffee 'whitener' and 'creamer' that surely has never been within miles of anything resembling an actual dairy product. Anyway... nowadays I like starbucks and I'm fine with that.

Keurig. Love it. Consistent coffee. At home. Paid for itself in 2 months. Starbucks was really farking up may coffee all the time. So basically I walked away. Now Starbucks has Kcups comming out. Go figure. I forsee less Starbucks as the economy continues to dive.

I've spent 57.29 times memory at Starbucks.

Minus money.

Money under-spent.

I advocate supporting smaller java shops.

I once envisioned a book/coffee store biz in biz...

REALLY glad I didn't make that happen currently. Big money outweighs little money, apparently. fark that.

;)

In San Francisco there's Blue Bottle, Four Barrel, and Sightglass. Why the hell would you drink that burnt crap from Peet's?!
