I found her adorable when she was sixteen and she was singing as the virgin who believes in fairy tales and obsesses over that adorable guy in chemistry class and fantasizes about being a princess and having her dream wedding. I think we all go through that phase when we're teenagers and too dumb to know any better.

Now that she's 21 or 22 and she's been in the business for a long time, it's no longer adorable, it's just kind of sad.

Waaaait... Just because she's drinking age she has to get dried up and bitter?. I'm pretty sure she's having fun and still in a largely structured environment and well protected from disappointment. Give it another 6 years with droopy tits, and a baby, and a breakup before she matures. I'm sure her music is still largely in tune with the type of person she is for the time being.

Let's not be bitter, sweet'ums. :)

That crap ain't country. Country is still being made by Shooter Jennings, Hank III, Dale Watson and so forth. There are cowboys still following Chris Ledoux's path.

There is a place for the lesser country such as by Jason Aldean and Brad Paisley. It's a hell of a lot of fun tearing up the dance floor to some good country swing. But is it true country? Not a chance in hell.

She's both. She's a Carrie Underwood echo, like how Christina Aguilera was a Britney Spears echo. That's not to say she isn't hot or talented, but someone else laid the foundation. I agree with the people calling it formula or cracker pop/country. We'll see who pulls a Timberlake, evolves in 5 years, and continues her career. (Hint, Carrie's already doing it.)

I want to point out that the pretty red-head in the picture behind Taylor is Reba McIntyre.

A comma would be improper in this instance, as the list of people is only two. The sentence is perfectly cromulent, though adding an additional "her" before "good friend" would help with clarification.

I harbored a grudge against Carrie Underwood for so long because that song about her getting revenge on the cheating ex by trashing his truck just made me think "you're such an effing psycho that you'd trash someone's car over a relationship?" Think about it - if the situation were reversed and the guy trashed the girl's car, the guy would be tossed in jail and labeled a nutcase. If the girl does it when the guy cheats the girl is a "hero" and a "strong woman"

Justin Timberlake needs to do all of humanity a favor and go into comedy full time. It's no coincidence that the best SNLs of recent years have had him as host.

Her very first single was literally called 'Tim McGraw'. First track, debut album.

Personally, I rather like seeing someone who so clearly, consistently appreciates every single good thing that's happening in a life like she's been having. Take another one of her songs, 'Long Live'. The song is pretty much a love letter to everyone- band, producers, fans, everyone- that's helped her get where she is, as well as a clear understanding that at some point- maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, maybe not for 40 years down the road, but at some point- the day's going to come, for her and everyone else on her team, that they're no longer going to be fawned over like this, so you better enjoy every single moment of it so you've got the best possible scrapbook to show the grandkids. Even if she's been in the spotlight as long as she has... she's still 21 years old, and for a 21-year old (or younger depending on when she wrote it) to understand that reality as well as her, and to go 'well, I'd better take it in while it lasts' as opposed to something destructive or desperately clinging to fame is almost unheard of. And it's really refreshing to see.

/yes, I will cop to having completely and utterly submitted to the Cult of Swift, why do you ask?

But the biatch can't sing. She can write, but that biatch can't sing and no amount of studio magic can cover it up. Having said that, she does sing her own shiat, and she doesn't lip synch when she performs, so I admire her even though I think shes a better writer than a performer.

Well, that's kinda the thing. Taylor thinks of herself as a writer first, kinda like Tina Fey does. She is totally cool with the fact that there are plenty of singers out there that can blow her voice out of the sky. Her aim is to write relatable lyrics, songs her fans can find meaning in. If she was worried at all about her voice, she wouldn't be basing so many setups around her just sitting there with an acoustic guitar and no back-up band. If your focus is on 'studio magic', Unplugged is not going to be half your thing.

Again. Swift is playing a completely different game than that. I mean, she obviously can sing; if her voice was truly as terrible as you make it out to be, she'd never have gotten off the ground as a singer and would likely just be songwriting for others. She sings well enough to serve the purpose.

Her lyrics, though, her ability to take her blown relationships and whatever else is going on with her and go 'so how many of you have had something like this happen to you?' and get the response that she does, and to do so with a personality that gets her fans- and their parents- to see her as a role model, that's what carries her. The fact that people want to listen to what a person like that has to say, and then the fact that she can say those things well. Anything her voice and instrument-playing add to the package is kind of a bonus.
