That's an interesting spin on a group of children crying for attention.

chiett: That's an interesting spin on a group of children crying for attention.

What, the Republican party? Yeah, they really have been crying for attention desperately lately.

Anyone else find this whole "human megaphone" crap kind of annoying?

Eh, kind of. I don't think a regular megaphone has the same impact though.

It just seems like something a counselor at a summer camp came up with to promote team building or something.

"It was really ironic that you had a group of young people in what was really a very disrespectful and ignorant move, to take that kind of action in the midst of veterans who have fought to give them the right to do that," Bachmann said.

So veterans fought to ensure our right to free speech, but it's bad form to excercise that right if veterans are present?

Michele Bachmann is the last person in the world who should be complaining about protesters interrupting anything. STFO and GBT(not)W(ing on shiat)

In her defense, they weren't hiding behind a bush, so she wasn't sure what they were doing.

Did she invoke 9/11? Because if she did, as Rudy Giuliani's account manager, I better see that check.

I'm tired of her childish antics. Perhaps we should look deeper into her husband and how he handles their children.

"Don't you love the First Amendment?" she asked the crowd.

OK, Sparkletits, new rule -- you don't EVER get to pull out the First Amendment card if you've gone on record as saying that, as President, you'd "ban all forms of pornography".

You hate the First Amendment, you horrible, horrible person. You should be ashamed that you pretend to respect it one iota.

"How dare you exercise your First Amendment rights among a group of people who fought to protect your First Amendment rights! It's almost like you believe that gives you the right to do that! Meanwhile, I'm up here exercising my First Amendment right to make a complete twat of myself, and you better shuttup and listen to me, damnit!"

Well it's against the law for them to use bull horns. It's not like they are trying to be cute. Holy crap.

Sorry Bachmann, you've made it clear that you don't deserve any respect.

2011-11-10 08:22:36 PM
Don't like what someone is saying, shout over them and prevent them from being heard, that is freedom! It's wrong to infringe upon someone elses rights, unless you're the one doing it and they happen to be a political opponent. That's tolerance!

The protesters were *not* exercising their right to free speech, they were infringing upon another persons.

Can we now have a serious national discussion about pooping on her campaign bus?

I gotta agree with her that Iraq should reimburse. Dubya promised the war would pay for it self.

Maybe we should invade again?

When one man speaks about injustice, people like to turn away and do. When 50 people speak as one, you're forced to pay attention.

It's what you do when nobody will speak for you.

Oh sure Iran is the threat..... Israel has nuclear weapons too. So no need for the U.S. to be the one accused of Genocide when Iran disappears and the rest of the World gets hit by Nuclear fallout.

Thought I might just point out the irony given that the protestors' objection was to precisely Bachmann's use of that sort of divisive language.

They were saying it hurts and divides America to call everyone who disagrees with you "UnAmerican."

In passing, the nice thing about the people's mic is that it can amplify a single human voice above the fray -- even if only for an instant -- and combat the corporatist ideology on a level ground.

It's a metaphorical microphone, too. It amplifies the voice of those who traditionally might have been excluded from the national and global conversation.

These movements are about starting conversations. Those trying to shut them down really are starting to show their true colors.

When Bachmann came back on she apparently said something like "well, don't you just love the first amendment?"

Well, the people do -- but clearly it scares and terrifies you. I wonder why that might be?

One of our lead medics served several tours in Iraq.

Fark Michele Bachmann. Every single person involved in the occupations is ten times the patriot Michele or any of her rightist lickspittles can claim to be.

Oh, and the peoples' mic is highly effective at serving as ad hoc amplification, and it's available to anyone to use. Not like a bullhorn or microphone.
