FTA: "Obama has also gained tremendously among swing voters - who favored the generic Republican by over 20 points in September, but now are split between Obama and the dummy candidate."

Basically, the only hope for the GOP is to go with a dummy candidate. So they still have a number of promising candidates. Certainly good for Perry.

"Nobama!"

"Don't compare me to the almighty, compare me to the alternative."

"... Gobama!"

"Generic" Republican Candidate is also the strongest Republican candidate.

Generic Republican never tried to force a woman to blow him.

2011-11-10 01:19:45 PM
His strategy of putting the screws to Congress for failing to pass his jobs bill and the lack of enthusiasm for his Republican opposition are certainly contributing to the bump.

America hates a wimp, and likes a fighter. This is news somehow.

Damn, if Generic Republican can't even win anymore, this is going to be a beating.

I don't think anyone thought the GOP was going to retake the Presidency this round, but they seem hellbent on sinking everyone downticket as well.

People are looking at the alternative and the jokes of candidates they have. The only one that isn't a complete laughing stock is Romney.

Hey, you don't learn that you can trade a job opportunity for sex by working as a community organizer.

Headso: People are looking at the alternative and the jokes of candidates they have. The only one that isn't a complete laughing stock is Romney.

The problem with Romney for independents is that every day he changes his stances.

The problem with Romney for conservatives is that he is Mormon.

Headso: People are looking at the alternative and the jokes of candidates they have. The only one that isn't a complete laughing stock is Romney.

The punchline to that joke is that Republican bigotry won't allow them to vote for someone whose brand of Christianity they see as "wrong". They'll put their votes behind a 3rd party or they'll just stay home.

Generic Republican is a farking asshole right now, that's why.

I was pissed at Republicans during the 2008 election so I voted almost straight Democrat. I figured everything would sort itself out and cooler heads would prevail to pull the U.S. out of its slump. Instead, the GOP doubled-down and when loony in 2010. Honestly. Have y'all seen the Freshmen politicians the Republicans brought in for after the 2010 election? Assholes. The lot of of 'em.

So once again, I'm going to shuffle my ass out to the polls like I did in 2008, so I don't have to deal with anymore of the bullshiat.

Quick republicans, better do something else to sabotage the economy! It's your only chance!

2011-11-10 02:40:59 PM
Herman Cain will win the primary, drop out of the general, and leave Obama to run against a far-right independent. Obama will take all the states, and there will be Democratic landslides in the House and Senate as well.

WizardofToast: The problem with Romney for conservatives is that he is Mormon.

And that he's from the Northeast in a Southern Party.

And that he's a blueblood in a populist environment.

And that he's been on record or voted for gun control, abortion rights, gay rights, stricter environmental controls, federal healthcare mandates, immigration amnesty .. with a party base that REALLY hates all those things (at least when a black man from Team Donkey advocates them).

2011-11-10 02:43:47 PM
"The dummy candidate" really? That's kind of a rude thing to call Mitt Romney.

2011-11-10 02:43:58 PM
WizardofToast: The problem with Romney for independents is that every day he changes his stances.

Yeah I agree that he appears to more so than other candidates but it always happens where a candidate will play to the base during the primary then change his tune later on. So on that front I don't think he'd have a problem. The fact that the conservative base, like you said, has a bigotry issue might mean they won't go out and stump for the guy and knock on doors and whatnot so his ground game will suffer.

A lot of people have woken up and realized who this man is
A lot of voters are having buyers remorse
America is sick to death of this man's failed policies

For the life of me I cannot believe we'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen

I don't think it's so much that Obama has done shiat (he hasn't) so much as the voters realizing that the majority of the Republican candidates are worse than genital crabs.

They're chosing the lesser of two evils, the devil they know.

Seems that as these "debates" continue, more Americans tune in, then are turned off to what the GOP has to offer.

I won't vote "against him"
I only vote for somebody

This "vote against" is what the GOP seems to me to be counting on and I hate it. Way to diminish the democratic system, jerks.

Sullivan comes to the same conclusion.

It's not, in my view, because Obama is performing well as a communicator. It's because the GOP is revealing itself as unfit for governing responsibility. Once again, Obama's opponents self-destruct.

I am curious to know what free republic will be like if Obama wins a second term.

I recall reading some posts from there with heavy birther influence saying the supreme court had decided to let him finish his term but were going to quietly pull him aside and tell him not to run again if he didn't want to appear in the history books as a president with an asterix by his name.

What sort of conspiracy theories will be unleashed by a second obama term?

I don't see that happening. If there is any independent in the race, he or she will come out of the Scarborough/Bloomberg camp.
