Johhny Bench would have killed all his captors- eaten them!- and caught both games of a doubleheader by now.

Rub some dirt on it and escape, ya pussy.

Looks like teams are going to start their excuses for not making the playoffs early this year.

Ramos was the catcher on my fantasy team this past season. He helped me win a 20-team league.

I need his safe return.

Stephen Strasburg to star in "Man on Fire 2: Kidnapping Boogalo".

Well, that beats playing for the Nationals.

If a rookie catcher hitting .267 helped you win your fantasy league, you're in a real shiatty league.

Depending on the outcome, that Capps trade isn't looking so bad after all.

Maybe the kidnappers needed something more for their trade for Pujols.

Some guys will do anything to get off that shiatty team

/in all seriousness I hope he is, and stays OK

Akustical: Depending on the outcome, that Capps trade isn't looking so bad after all.

Trading for Capps eventually resulted in giving him a $7M contract, making the Twins unable to afford JJ Hardy, who was traded for 3 Bazooka Joe comics. Ramos would've provided reasonable back-up play for Mauer when he was hurt, our shortstop situation wouldn't have been MLB-worst, and we would've had one less failure in the relief corp (or at worst, a cheaper failure).

/damn, that trade snowballed

In a league with 20 people, talent is spread pretty thin.

I guess Hugo Chavez needed a new liver and they chose this guy to 'volunteer' his.

15 HR, 52 RBI last season.

Puts him in the top half of all catchers. In a 20-team league, I'll take it.

That's an outrage. The Red Sox pitching staff needs that liver.

Ha, I laughed then drank then ate some chicken then laughed some more.

Hope he comes back okay. That poor guy and his family.

Nothing can hold Joe Morgan, because he's nothing but intangibles.

Guys, I think we're losing sight of the bigger picture here: How's this going to affect Joe Paterno's legacy??

Ha!

Oddly enough, Joe Morgan was HUGE sabermetrically. Walked a ton, especially for a guy without a ton of power. 1865 walks. That's 5th all-time. And his stolen base percentage for his career was over 80%.

I liked when they attempted to kidnap a member of Colombia's Olympic team a few years back. As luck would have it, his event was small-bore pistol, and he proceeded to shoot the would-be kidnappers into Swiss cheese with it.

It's hilarious that Joe Morgan doesn't understand what made Joe Morgan a great player

Subby's headline was better than the one I submitted: Venezuelan kidnappers draft a catcher in the first round

i think he sort of does. He was never opposed to the principles of moneyball/sabermetrics, just the idea that baseball can be analyzed without watching it. It's not like he was opposed to walking a lot.

I actually think Morgan was a better analyst than people gave him credit for. He mostly sucked, and knew about 4 guys in baseball during his time on ESPN. But when he got into talking about baseball mechanics, or anything about baseball that didn't require knowledge of today's players, he was alright.

In other baseball news, Tribe just signed Derek Lowe $5M/1 yr

I liked my headline better (and of course I am not biased): Wilson Ramos kidnapped in Venezuela. Kidnappers demand ransom or they will return Ramos to the Washington Nationals
