It's up 30% this year, and went down a bit today.

EVERY DEPARTMENT DOWNSIZE!

Mrs. Macross shops at the "rack" sometimes at Nordstroms (or something). She always see something (dress, blouse, etc) for $20-45 which was marked down from something like $500. Talk about markup.

/actually say Convers shoes with some custom markings for $450 once
//literally choked at the site of it

Those socks are $30 for 2 or 3 pair. Nice socks, too.

RL socks have gone down in quality this year. We just got our "cashmere blend" socks for Christmas. They are rough and scratchy and only 7% cashmere. Much lower quality than past years.

My problem with Ralph Lauren is that all of their manufacturing is in countries known for what amounts to slave labor. If you're going to charge me $100 for a shirt, you damn well can afford to pay your workers more than cents a day.

That is kind of where all the textile plants are though. Most of my office shirts come from Ralph, Patagonia, or Tommy Bahama (casual office, etc). They are all made in the same dark corners of the world.

I make it a point of only buying clothing made in countries that have decent workers' rights - the US, Canada, western Europe, etc. The clothing isn't as easy to find, but it's generally of much better quality and not that much more expensive.

(Union Line jeans, made in the USA by union workers are $40.00 a pair. They're cheaper than Levi's made overseas in what have been described as "slavelike" conditions.)

Not just $30 socks, but $30 socks made in the Phillipines that are just rebranded Wal-Mart generics.

To be fair, those socks WILL make you look like a rugged individualist while you stand on the porch of your Montana high-country ranch, sipping free-trade organic cocoa with your drop dead gorgeous twenty-five year old wife who loves you for your handsome chiseled features AND your wealth and success. Also, your children will be blonde and beautiful.

Are they wool?

Cotton socks are shat. The easily get holes and smell bad.

Yeah ever since Levi went over seas the quality has dropped dramatically. Growing up I had a pair of jeans that lasted me years. Now the knees are ripped up after 3 washes

Yep. The last pair of Levis I bought were complete shat. I own some $80 Mavis that end up being far cheaper than Levis, considering they literally last 10 times as long.

I'll spend good money for certain types of quality products - Spaten beer, Cervelo bikes, MartinLogan speakers - but I am a cheapskate when it comes to clothes. The clothes stores I shop the most are Old Navy and Walmart. Comfort and cheap price is all I care about. It doesn't even have to look good.

I buy my socks at Costco... that way when they get holes I can take them back.

Would it be too much to actually include the stock price? I know I'm supposed to click another farking link, but that is absolutely shiatty writing, and I guess the editor doesn't give a shiat either.

/weatherman is no longer the only job where it doesn't matter how good a job you do
