How many wind tunnels does it take to test a Space Nutter crying over the Space Shuttle? None, it's all simulated on computers because the Space Age and its material and energy intensive fantasies are equally dead.

Someone's not feeling very nostalgic tonight, are they?

The slideshow is worth thumbing through just to get a kick out of the DPRK fantasy shuttle model. Imagine lugging your flight gear up all of those stairs, thinking on each one, "I'm about to board something even the Russians and Chinese would consider beyond risky."

BTW - has there been a dual space/evolution article to set off multiple RSS alarms? I've yet to see both career trolls in the same thread. I'd say throw in some open source slant, too, but I haven't noticed that guy around here in a while.

Since I am a computer fluid dynamicist, I'm getting a kick out of these replies ...

Subby, I would have gone with "Is that a computer fluid dynamics package in your ..." - ah, never mind.

The future's looking very agrarian and biotechy to me, not spacey at all. It's alright to be nostalgic as long as you realise it, and don't confuse the overly-enthusiastic Cold War/cheap energy-driven delusions about space with practical reality. I hope you didn't buy a condo development next to Elon Musk's mansion on Mars!?

How did you like my combined jab at the failings of the space fantasies and the fact that all we've gotten better at is information processing? I think I'm pretty clever, highly entertaining and amusing as well as well informed about reality.

Goddamn dude what the hell is with you and space? It's like Buzz Aldrin boinked your mom or something.

I herd one day we will be using homemade maker machines to fly to Alpha Centauri...
