Sundogs fire, on the horizon.
Meteors rain stars across the night.
This moment may be breif but it can be so bright
Reflected in another source of light
When the moment dies, the spark still flies
Reflected in another pair of eyes.

(just sayin)

Done in one. I can see I'm not needed here.

Wow, I guess I haven't listened to Presto in a while. I didn't recognize that right away. That album is one of my favorites too.

Some of the weird cloud images linked in the related stuff are pretty cool too.

Actually, Subby, it's not sundogs, at least not technically. I saw this video a few weeks back, tracked down a meteorologist, and got a full explanation. Like sundogs, this is caused by ice crystals, but the geometry is different. And the dancing, snapping motion is due to the crystals aligning themselves with the clouds internal electric field, which is constantly discharging and building back up.

Thanks!
I don't know a damn thing about meteorology, I shamelessly stole it from Neil deGrasse Tyson.

/Still pretty cool no matter what it is.

Man, how disappointing. It's almost as if Fark only lets people repost things that already exist elsewhere on the internet.

I don't even know what's real anymore.

Yeah right! Clouds don't have electrical charges. We'd have seen evidence by now if that was the case. Go back to college and take your 10 dollar words with you.

I just meant that it's a little late to be playing the UFO angle, since this very video has been featured on a site where it's explained. Two apparently - I hadn't seen Phil's blog about it.

But I misunderstood the headline to mean someone was claiming it to be a UFO, so that was my bad.

That was actually pretty cool. Never seen anything like that before. Thanks Subby.

Footage was far too stable and I could actually see what was happening.

Obviously fake.

I'm surprised the field is that strong that far up. Last I checked, the electrical activity of clouds was thought to be from the huge amount of water molecule interactions in the cloud.

You will all notice how steadily that guy is holding his camera.

Had that been an alleged Bigfoot, Nessie, or UFO sighting, you can guarantee the camera would have been bouncing around as if being held my Michael J Fox.

Well then *I* am going to call those "Sun Dancers" from now on, it's a pretty name, I like it, children will like it and it makes me very happy...
So there.

Also thank you for the link.

Who the hell is that? I don't have cable so I'm oblivious to such things but I was at my dad's once recently and saw that nutball on TV. What the hell!
