Well, I bought one of his albums about 20 years ago.. if he's been making albums recently, I'm guessing they're not doing very well.

Apparently, this one time, he found love and didn't know what to do with it.

Money earnin' Mount Vernon!

Back in the day, Heavy D was the man! He also played a mechanic on a tv show I think? Or a movie..recall that for some reason.

More bounce to the ounce!

/this actually saddens me, he was one of my first rap favorites. Also, that big boy could dance too!

He was the black dude on Special Victims Unit, right?

I knew he was a rapper, but honestly, I knew of him more from his continuous yet random presence on all the "black" sitcoms from the 90's....Fresh Prince, Living Single, the Cosby spin off at college, etc...seemed he was on a different one every week, playing the same basic character....sorry for his friends and family though...

He made a reggae album kind of recently that got really good reviews but it's actually pretty corny. I think it won a grammy though.

Also, if anybody is having a "get off my lawn" moment for Heavy D, they better be at least 75 years old.

He was in all things, a very nice guy, well respected and knew how to carry himself.

Heavy D was from Mount Vernon - also home to Denzel. It's a predominantly black town now, but when I was a kid there were 25,000 whites and 25,000 blacks and no racial trouble. Of course there were some problems after the 25,000 blacks got out of jail.

Heavy D sang the first version of the Cosby Show theme, them Bill found out he was actually white and fired him. So Phoebe Snow was brought in to sing and that didn't turn out well either.....

Don't get me wrong...dude was quite popular in 1991 or whatever, but influential? I don't see that.
