Danzig has been around for 20 odd years.

I have NEVER met a single person that listens to that shiat. Who exactly is keeping the corpse alive?

'Cause when someone says "fun" Danzig, and your mom, are the first things that come to mind.

I'm listening to Danzig right now.

For fun and laughs, walk up to Glenn and ask him about The Misfits. Go ahead, he loves hearing questions about his former band, trust me!

I saw Ryan Gosling at this thing. He had a film crew following him around and we walk then stop and stare off into space, by a tree, a large rock, then next to a stage speaker. It all seemed dreamlike.

FFFFest had one of the best stage setups I've ever seen with two stages side by side so that when one band was finishing up their set the next band was already soundchecking on the adjacent stage. So there was at most 10-15 minutes between bands. This worked so well and should be followed by other festivals immediately.

Oh Glen, if only you were as big as that youtube clip of you getting knocked the Fuq out.

Is Glen Danzig even in demand at this point? I know he parlayed his time with the Misfits into a career and all, but really, when was the last time he put out anything good? There's a few good Danzig songs, but those were all written in the late 80s and early 90's. If they wanted a band that would play their old punk songs, they could've hired Bad Religion, or probably gotten the folks from Black Flag to do a one off reunion gig. Heck, see if Mike Watt's available. That dude still tours in a damn Econoline, and crashes on people's couches.

He probably just wanted to stay in his trailer and do heroin. Can you blame him?

If Slayer can play "Fun Fun Fun Fest", Goth Elvis certainly can.

I farking love Danzig. He is just so evil. And let's face it, if you like Dip, Sabbath, The Doors, Rainbow, or Deep Purple, you like Danzig and just haven't bothered to listen.

A friend of mine once farted on Glenn Danzig at Dragoncon one year. The exchange, as the story goes, went something like this:

Our scene opens in an elevator in the Mariott Marquis where my friend is riding down with Glenn Danzig and entourage in the elevator.

Glenn Danzig: Hi, I'm Glenn Danzig.
My Friend: *FART*

And scene.

He's doing a series of four "Danzig Legacy" dates in which he's playing a combination of Misfits, Samhain and Danzig songs. He was only doing LA, Chicago and NY gigs plus this festival in Austin. I assume he was dipping his toe in the water at the major cities to get a feel for demand.

I've always thought he sang like he needed an enema.

Here was his press release to announce his string of four "Danzig Legacy" dates.

"Long into the future we will all be gone, but certain marks we make can live on. Decades beyond this one, Danzig's music will be heralded by people of various musical interests; it will find a permanent place in the lives of those who need the escape and solace of his vast musical catalog

Yeah, he's kinda a self important douche.

Some songs from the Misfits, Samhain and his solo work are all on regular rotation for me.

Whatthefark: Glenn Danzig is a douche. Everyone knows that.

He was actually really friendly and seemed pretty mellow and down to Earth when I met him.... but that was like 12 - 14 years ago. He's 56 now... Maybe he's not taking the whole "yeah, I'm definitely getting older" thing too well... or maybe he just was on his best behavior when I met him.

The last Danzig album I listen to is 4p, which was a really amazing farking album. It almost seems like he let his bandmates off the chain on that one, and they ran with it. Really great instrumentation, great performances by Glen and some really good songs all together.

After that, I really couldn't tell you. The next album, Blackacidevil, I was expecting to be more of that kind of quality..... and it turned out to be a horribad attempt at ripping off Nine Inch Nails. It was so bad, it was the ONLY album I've ever returned to the store - demanded my money back - and I've never bothered trying anything he released after that. I kind of figured that 4p was his last hurrah...

For me it was as disappointing as Metallica's black album.

For what it's worth, my friend at work saw him at the Hammerstein in NY last week and said the show was outstandin'.

I think his last album actually got pretty good reviews. I remember hearing it playing over the PA at my local record store and thinking it just sounded like all of his other stuff, but I'm really not a Danzig connossoir.

Danzig is a little biatch-man who will pull out of a show 5 hours before it's to go on because he doesn't like how the stage looks.

/Got to see Marduk, Possessed, and Toxic Holocaust for free, so that show did have a definite silver-lining.

i think mastodon's live stuff is a little "meh" because the things they're playing and singing don't really allow them to move around a whole lot. i'm no metalhead...can probably count all the metal bands i really like on my fingers and have some leftover, but mastodon is one that i'm slowly getting into, and really wish i could've gone to the soundgarden show a couple of weeks ago with them opening
