I don't have a problem with this. Noon kick off and 7pm for China. Win win for everybody (who cares)

This. Actually, I feel Barca is MORE susceptible to bandwagoning than Real. A lot more.

Look at that, Jose is trying to rip an opponent's eye socket so he looks more Chinese than he did yesterday. Now that's some groundbreaking, outside the box marketing strategy.

I can only speak from my own experience going to J-League matches, but a noon kickoff for a game this big means getting to the stadium several hours early if you want a good seat (then again I'm assuming they have 'free seating' sections, otherwise disregard).

Even if you don't have free seating in some sections, Bernabéu fits 80,000+ which means you have to open at least 3, 4 hours early to get everyone inside assuming the match is sold out (which it will be). Even worse at Camp Nou and its 100,000 seats. Logistical nightmare all around, and then the atmosphere is destroyed b/c it's a noon kickoff.

But I think we have to remember that this is just the Chinese media spouting off, which essentially means that some high-ups in the Chinese government are frustrated with their knockoff TiVos. I doubt the start time will actually change.

China, if you want good soccer games to be played convenient to your schedule, try having a good Chinese soccer league. You know, as opposed to whatever that godawful thing is you call a league now.

Your stadiums sucks then. We can get 114k inside Michigan Stadium in under an hour. We can also empty the place in the 3rd quarter.

This is an excellent point and I will click your star in gratitude.

I've never been to a Liga game so I can't say for sure. J-League matches open their doors 2h before kickoffs, sometimes more for championship games.

I think the difference is that w/ football, everyone tailgates until a half-hour before kickoff and goes inside. With soccer the partying goes on inside the stadium as well.

This is true. But as it's November instead of June it's not like they're baking.

It's still a bit cynical, granted.

Dear corporation,

If you're interested in taking a potential customer's money, it's best to try to accommodate them in an effort to make them happy.

Since Ronaldo. He draws all the casual female bandwagoners to Real.

noon kickoff in spain = 6AM CST (Like this last weekends real match) F that
Normal evening games in spain = 12-3PM CST

Rosell has spoken out against targeting the asian market because it alienates spanish viewers, so i really hope they dont shift the time for the clasico.

//it would suck to wake up and watch it at 6am

Maybe not in China. After the first round of Galacticos, Real Madrid had a massive tour of Asia, and since then they have been really popular over there. I think having David Beckham at the time really helped. I got to a school with alot of exchange students from various parts of Asia, and most that I have talked to are Real Madrid or Manchester United fans.

120million viewers tuned into last week's Ossuna v Real match. You're not going to get those numbers in the Central US time zone
