All in all it's shaping up to be a pretty big night for the Dems.

2011-11-08 10:56:39 PM
This might actually tell the GOP that the crazy isn't going to fly with the American people.

2011-11-08 10:57:30 PM
Good.

ManateeGag: This might actually tell the GOP that the crazy isn't going to fly with the American people.

That's unlikely. They'll just double down on the grounds they didn't convince people enough, and possibly blame the Governor.

I am happily impressed with the sanity of Mississippi tonight.

Good.

FTA: Keith Mason, co-founder of the group Personhood USA, which pushed the Mississippi ballot measure, has said a win would send shockwaves around the country. The Colorado-based group is trying to put similar initiatives on 2012 ballots in Florida, Montana, Ohio and Oregon.

Dude, if it couldn't pass in Mississippi, it can't pass anywhere.

Good, then that means another 4 years for Obama and probably 4 more for the next Democrat.

Wanna bet. I mean, sure, Mississippi is stupid, but Florida is extra-super-special.

Thank goodness.

Good. Can we stop with the insane legal hypotheticals now?

Shostie: Good. Can we stop with the insane legal hypotheticals now?

Without derp and faux social wedge issues, the GOP's got nuthin'. They won't stop, ever. Otherwise they'll be forced to pull their collective heads out of their asses and Good Books, and be forced to deal with reality.

2011-11-08 11:15:58 PM
FTFA: Hubert Hoover, a cabinet maker and construction worker, voted for the amendment.

"I figure you can't be half for something, so if you're against abortion you should be for this. You've either got to be wholly for something or wholly against it," said Hoover, 71, who lives in a Jackson suburb.

Behold, the republican base.

Oh, I'd love to have him try to get this passed in Oregon. Ain't gonna happen, dude.

Can I take off the 'Crime Scene' yellow tape I've been wearing as a belt now?

HELL F*CKING YES.

I'm sure they're just going to try to un-vague the bill. That's really the main technicality that pushed the No's over the top here.

This is good news... for sane people.

I always loved Mississippi
I even like spelling it
Mississippi

2011-11-08 11:31:49 PM
I for one, wish that this law had passed.

Eventually, most people in Mississippi would realize how stupid and batshiat crazy it is to pass laws like this.

Once people got past the emotions and realized what they had actually done, I believe remorse would set in.

IgG4: All in all it's shaping up to be a pretty big night for the Dems.

Republicans should be asking some very, very, hard questions tonight.

It doesn't matter. Cause they herped the derp so early with the farking debates, they've pretty much turned any moderate against them.

ManateeGag: Good, then that means another 4 years for Obama

Obama is f*cking up the economy as badly as GWB f*cked up our foreign relations. God help us if Obama gets re-elected.

Excellent.

FTFA: The Colorado-based group is trying to put similar initiatives on 2012 ballots in Florida, Montana, Ohio and Oregon.

Oregon? Good luck with that. The rural areas here are sparsely populated but deeply red so they probably think they'll have a chance to get it to pass. Personhood USA can stick this initiative up their pee hole if they think the rest of us will let 'em make this a law here.

2011-11-08 11:32:09 PM
That was an abortion of a bill. Anyone who voted for it probably will regret it the morning after.

You'll need a morning-after bill to ease the consequences.

One more: a plane full of pregnant women lands in Biloxi. Could the FAA cite the airline for having more passengers than are listed on the flight manifest?

/ok, now I'm done

Think about it, 45% of people were in favor of forcing a rape victim keep the baby.

For this thread, too. First the Ohioans, now the Mississippians.

Don't forget the downfall of the author of SB 1070 in Arizona:

Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce all but conceded his defeat in the Legislative District 18 recall election, with mid-evening results showing political newcomer Jerry Lewis holding an 53 percent to 45 percent lead with 14,222 ballots counted.

Brace for epic vote-suppression after this night. The GOP cannot suffer another night of the American people exercising their rights.

Democrats? Doing well in an election cycle that's not a presidential one?

Color me shocked.

I saw someone on TV a couple days ago who specifically said they support this. Their argument was something like "It's not the kid's fault."

...what kid? It's a clump of cells.

Don't forget forcing women with ectopic pregnancies to wait for their fallopian tube to burst before terminating the pregnancy.

Oh, and banning most forms of birth control.

Among other issues.

Yes, the stupid, it burns. And if my rights weren't at risk, I would love for people to see the shiatstorm that would ensue from passing a law like this.
