FTFSS: Carson Palmer - Highly touted in college like Young, though with some early success. But Palmer ran into injury and attitude problems in Cincinnati, alienating teammates and developing a prima donna reputation. The Bengals did well to get a pair of draft picks from Oakland for Palmer, who hadn't been playing through this season's first seven weeks

Huh? Was this written by Mike Brown?

By rights Mike Vick should be dead in a bucket with an extension cord around his neck.

If I think to hard that he's walking about free after 21 months while Jack Kevorkian had to go to jail for 8 years it makes me want to vomit into an empty Olympic sized pool and fill the whole thing up.

People are not dogs, man. I agree. Healthy dogs raised right could have a much better life than ailing old men and women in too much pain to use the toilet on their own who just want to die. But what do we do with the killer of innocent animals? Give him fame and glory while a saint of a doctor is sent to prison for 8 years for doing what should be legal and the right of every man, woman, and child in incurable pain.

I don't like him, is what I'm getting at.

doglover: I don't like him, is what I'm getting at.

I'm having trouble getting a read on your feelings for Vick. Could you clarify them a bit?

It's a shame that Vick was allowed back into the league after his jail term. And it's disgusting how Eagles fans immediately embraced him and love him unconditionally. Compare the way they treat Vick with the way they treated McNabb and that's really all you need to know about Eagles fans. McNabb was a winner and a great guy off the field but he was a little goofy and didn't say what they wanted him to say so they hated him. Vick has been a loser on the field and a scumbag off the field but they love him. I'm disgusted that I ever counted myself among their number and defended them.

That said, what's wrong with the other 40% of those polled? 60% dislike is way too low.

Yeah whoever wrote this article is an idiot, carson palmer decided he wasn't getting hurt for some of the worst owners in the nfl.

Palmer and Ocho kind of confuse me ... I blame bad parenting for those two (Mike Brown) more than I blame them. Ocho has never hurt a fly (unless one happened to fly into his mouth while he was running it - well, I guess he's hurt Brady's completion percentage but that guy can stand to go through at least a smidge of adversity in his life) and Palmer decided to he'd rather be upright at age 50 rather than nursing a second catastrophic injury for a most likely sub .500 team.

I don't see it. He's neither whiny nor self-promoting. He barks on the field the same as any other QB; it's part of the job. Just because you have hate doesn't mean everyone else does.

1. Tim Tebow
2. Philip Rivers
3. Tony Romo
4. Big Ben
5. Tom Brady
6. Michael Vick
7. Jay Cutler
8. Chris Johnson
9. Joe Flacco
10. Eli Manning

I would have expected a higher number for Chris Johnson, but that's been the story of his season so far.

I can get behind some of the other guys you mentioned, but what's wrong with Matthews? As a Steelers fan I'm still a little pissed about how well he played in the Super Bowl, lol, but he seems like an OK guy otherwise. *shrugs* Not trying to be snarky, just wondering.

McNabb was ritually abused, for sure, but in the last three or four seasons (basically, right after the SB appearance), his performance declined rapidly and his "goofiness" seemed to translate into an overwhelming desire not to work any more. See: Redskins and Vikings for this. Yes, the fans were mercilessly cruel to him and went way above and beyond, but I think Vick isn't exactly getting worshiped either. In Philly, moreso than any other city, you do well and you'll be adored. You stink, and extenuating circumstances be damned, they will literally try to hurt you in any way possible. Every NFL city is like this, but in Philly, it is ridiculous. When Vick does a few bad games in a row, you'll feel the outcry.

I never liked Vick, especially after reading that his family cheered in the stands when Chris Chandler was seriously injured...with Chandler's family sitting right next to them.

And we are experiencing the same thing in Seattle:

1) Team brings in Jackson. Fan response: WTF? SRSLY?
2) Jackson stinks for the first few games: WE WANT WHITEHURST!
3) Jackson gets injured: HOORAY! WHITEHURST!
4) Whitehurst sucks up the place: MY GOD! JACKSON! JACKSON! JACKSON!
5) Jackson comes back and puts up a good amount of yardage and looks okay: THANK GOD FOR JACKSON!
6) Jackson throws 3 INTs the next game: MY GOD! WE WANT PORTIS! PORTIS! PORTIS!

You want a new team, do it when you're a free agent. Don't sign a long contract with a team you've played on for years, then act surprised you don't like playing there, and scheme a way to get paid in the millions to sit on your ass and look for a new job.

The Browns and Bengals have the same father (Paul Brown), so they're not step brothers. You can thank Art Modell for chasing Brown out of Cleveland, leading to the creation of the Bengals.

I think Cutler's awesome. In the absence of Olin Kreutz he has taken over leadership of the offense. He's improved the whole time he's been in Chicago, cutting down on poor decisions and red zone mistakes, especially last year and this year. Like you said, he does a lot of charity work that he doesn't need to brag about.

A lot of people hate him because he replaced Jake Plummer in Denver. A lot of people hate him because he demanded a trade out of Denver when he found out that the coach was actively trying to trade him. A lot of people hate his facial expressions. Some people (idiots) thought he wasn't really injured in the NFC championship game and just quit.

I don't really care about any of that. Dude shows up, plays hard, takes a farking BEATING every game (except Monday, which was nice to see),and demands as much from his teammates.

Ocho is just a goofball, and always gets lumped together with the actual jerk receivers like TO. I think he's great (even as a Steelers fan). Also, how is James Harrison not on this list??? Most miserable and grumpy player I've ever seen.

I'm not sure when it happened, but McNabb is now just a broken down game manager. He's got some sort of mental block preventing him from making a 15 yard completion. Everything is safe underneath passes for minimal gain. High percentage stuff, but it doesn't move the chains. I had hopes for a 8 win season this year... until I started watching him play.

[itiswhatitis.weei.com image 510x330]

I don't know. I saw him on SoundFX last season and nobody on the Bears wanted to speak with him. He just walks around the sideline trolling people with bad jokes. He was also called a franchise QB before he deserved it and that pissed off certain people. Mainly though, like Flip Rivers, he has a face that you want to punch.

I'll admit he has a hell of a trollface, and probably has the sense of entitlement that comes with spoiling kids in high school and college by treating them like pro athletes. All I'm saying is that he's FAR from as bad as it gets in the NFL.

What's telling is that when the TV camera cought him saying "Tell Martz I said fark him!" to his QB coach over the headset, popular opinion around Chicago was on his side rather than Martz (if I can judge popular opinion by listening to a lot of sports radio). I think people are catching on that Jay isn't a bad guy, he just isn't charismatic and he's kind of awkward. Nothing wrong with that.

Bottom line is that he plays hard, he's talented, and doesn't publicly complain about his teammates, and that wins people over.

James Harrison, Shawn Merriman, Complainian Tomlinson, Ray Lewis, Antonio Cromartie...
