Greece just imploded, now the government of Italy is going under. the EU is worried about having an economic meltdown of near epic proportions.

Rush isn't stupid, he knows that Cain is having a bimbo eruption problem. he knows that Cain is now on the short end of the Democrats recyling all the old GOP arguments used against Clinton. Rush now has to get out there and defend Cain and above all he can't let anyone notice that he's sounding exactly like Clinton.

Rush is really pushing his limits these days. he's overusing the same tired old rhetoric, he's REALLY heavy on the call screening and he's very careful about how he says things. To me he just comes across as desperate. the snappy banter is gone, now he's getting tired and it shows.

In my opinion, yes and no. He claims 20 million listeners. But I think that is how many people tune in at least once a month. That would include me, a libby-libby-libster. I tune in, probably on average, once a week or so for 20-30 minutes. I'm not voting for him. I would venture to say that while 50% of his claimed 20 million aren't liberals like me, 50% probably aren't hard core listeners. And if they aren't hard core listeners, they probably don't end up voting for him. Too much recorded evidence that he is an asshat. So, if 50% of his audience shows up for him, 10 million voters probably gets him out of the primaries, and gets him slaughtered in the general.

As I understand it, Rush's weight is back under control. what's less clear is how much damage his years of drug abuse have done to his body. I've always wondered if his hearing loss was the result of him sucking down as much oxycotin as he could get...but I honestly have no idea if that's even a possible side effect of his drug abuse.

that aside, Rush seems to be slipping. He's had to resort to tired old rhetoric and terminology that's over 15 years old, then practically scream it into the airwaves just to be heard over the normal media background noise. Limbaugh isn't stupid, he has to know that his audience needs to see something new and fresh. constantly cycling the same old bullshiat ain't gonna cut it, not in our media saturiated culture. So this has to be something of a serious concern for him.

oh he's already done that - essentially everything that goes wrong anywhere is the fault of some liberal. Bank failure? liberals did it. Housing market? liberals did it. EU economy imploding? Liberals again. that's just pro forma.

what i'm talking about is something that's only really started recently. Rush has been sounding more and more desperate. skip a few weeks of his show, then come back and listen to the first hour (and ONLY the first hour). don't listen specifically to what he's saying, but focus on his tone of voice. its pretty clear that Rush is desperate. he's got that weird hysterical vibe to his rants. he really hits it when talking about the OWS folks tho. he *hates* them. I'm not even sure Rush knows why he hates them, but he pours out his bile in large soundbytes when it comes to the OWS protests. But with Cain, Rush sounds desperate and whiny.
