Penn State - I know you aren't necessarily new to the Big10, you have been here for a few decades now, and... well - your recent activities are lower than any SEC scandal - The fact that JoePa did know (yes he reported it, but then did nothing from that point on) he loses so much respect and credibility.

I have always admired him and PSU, now - I would rather have Alabama in the conference than you

Joe Pa seen packing his bags? Such a shame......farking kid diddling pervs.....they should castrate this ahole and make him watch a pack of wild dingoes eat them.

I can't even imagine what alums of PSU are going through right now. I know people out in Phily where my family are from, they are beside themselves. How can the team even try and focus on Nebraska this week. To the victims my best wishes....to the pieces of filth who allowed this to happen, nothing I say will make you feel worse than living with this shame the rest of your life

me neither, man. I will say that Peachy Paterno isn't a terrible flavor, but I heard through the grapevine joepa doesn't like it.

He's a good guy, Paterno, and I think he's just getting old and doesn't have good judgment anymore. A family friend of mine used to watch PSU games with his dad every week, until the dad died. So he wrote a letter to joepa thanking him for years of great football games and telling him how much it meant to him and his dad to see such a class act on the field. JoePa wrote him a handwritten response, thanking him for watching the games and sending his condolences. He's a good guy, but I think that in the last ten years or so, he's had less and less to do with the actual operation of the game. His principles and ideas are enacted by other people, because I think he's well aware that he's losing some his sharpness.

Have you noticed that at PSU games, no one has his name on his jersey? And every player who isn't injured stands, suited up and with his helmet on, along the sideline, watching the game and waiting to go in.

This is probably wrought mostly from disgust and aggravation and I may well feel differently after Joe talks but ... fark it, shutter the program. Talk about a lack of institutional control from the President on down, if ever anything deserves a once and for all death penalty, this is it. Scandals involving young men trading jerseys for tattoos or getting a free hooker or WTF ever else has gone on suddenly seem so farking irrelevant. Shut the doors, turn out the lights, leave the stadium empty as a reminder of what happened. Send the salaries of every one of the farkholes who tried to cover this up to the kids involved.

Seriously admins, for the past 2 days I've been listening to sports radio in the Midwest and it's been a firestorm all day long. Get a real article up, this is the biggest scandal in NCAA history and could go down and the second biggest sex scandal in the country when all is said and done.

Considering Ohio State and USC's punishments for some students getting free tattoos and a free car from fans, what is the appropriate punishment for Penn State covering up an assistant coach cornholing 10 years on campus?

I think the whole football program should be shut down for 10 years... SMU style.

I'm sorry, but unless he was so senile that he didn't know his own name, he should have known to immediately call the police when his assistant came to him with what he saw in that locker room shower.

Screw the old man as far as I'm concerned.

As a recent student/alum (masters done, writing my dissertation now) I'm inclined to agree. Football brings in money to that town and university, but for all the wrong reasons. Penn State needs to reimagine itself as a university. We were an agricultural and engineering school, but now we're a football and party school. The whole town has this really disgusting nihilistic attitude of "well, it brings in money, doesn't it?" when it comes to any negative consequences of the football culture.

I would just like to also point out that my Wisconsin Badgers play host to Penn St later this month. If JoePa doesn't step down, I can't be held responsible for whatever horrible chants, signs, or anything any member of the marching band may do. If you are a PSU fan, please avoid Madison. I guarantee you that you will be harassed badly. Seriously don't come.

Exactly. I think it's funny that everyone is up in arms about what he "should" have done. He reported it as soon as he knew of it, and the man can't focus on anything but the next game. It's all he has at this point. Great guy, but it's time for him to be done.

I'd be much more concerned over nailing President "Unconditional support" Spanier to the wall than anything else right now. Let the legal system work on the others and let JoePa speak tomorrow before deciding what do with the coaching staff.

I think the solution is a massive purge on the athletic department and campus police sides of things, but Paterno has at least earned the right to speak at reasonable time of his choosing. Looking as it he'll speak within 18 hours I think it's reasonable for the mob to busy themselves with other people first.

I'm not saying I disagree that he was in the wrong, but in all fairness, he went to his supervisor, who called up the lawyers and said that JoePa had done his legal duty, and they would take it from there. Yes, he should have called the cops. I'm not saying he's off the hook, morally. I'm just saying there's a lot more to the guy than just this.

Any person that knew of these allegations or witnessed them and did not contact authorities should be fired immediately. And, for that matter, the university police and local police that advised him to stop showering with young boys should be fired, as well. Nearly identical situations occurred, repeatedly, with several young boys over the course of 15 years. It is beyond disgusting.

There isn't much that shocks me after reading this website for 8 years. I'm not surprised by much.

But, this situation makes me sick to my stomach. And, the actions of the supposed adults and their failure to protect those children just makes me sad.

This is the first time I've verbalized my thoughts in some form and it will be my last as there isn't any reason to change my opinion whatsoever.

The Penn State football program has failed. The Penn St administrative system failed. The University police system failed. The local police failed.

You realize how assinine that sounds in light of what has come to light? A good guy does not let a kid diddler continue to hang around his football program. A good guy would have sucked it up and did the right thing at the time. So he wrote you a note when your dad died, I wonder if he had the courtesy to write one to the ten year old boy left bleeding from the anus in his team shower room?

Oh they can. There is a big "conduct unbecoming" catchall in the rules and regs handbook. Never been used before as far as I know, but they could hit them.
