That's a nice classy move and I'm sure that Joe's family appreciates the HELL out of not having to worry about funeral costs.

Or having to deal with goddamn funeral directors.

/almost went across the desk at the one we used for my mother's funeral, after he started salesmanning me ("well, I mean, when you think about it, this IS really the last thing you're going to give your mother, so you shouldn't really worry about frugality")

I'm going back to the basics. I'm getting cremated, and the service will be held in a park.

Then, I want my ashes to be dumped into the bosom of the Pacific Ocean. Just like Donny.

Sometimes I wonder who PBF really is. He acts like a complete douche, then he does something like this. It always reminds me of this scene from The Great White Hype:

REPORTER:Conklin's been getting a lot of publicity about his donations to the homeless.

ROPER: That's his thing.

REPORTER: You're not known for your acts of charity.

ROPER: Ain't nobody's business what I do with my money.

REPORTER: We've found that you've given large donations of money to a number of places. AIDS organizations, multiple sclerosis. You visit children's hospitals in every town.

ROPER: I'm about to donate to the "Remove My Foot From Your Ass" Foundation. I tell you, I don't want to talk about this. It's over.

I think you guys thinking it's a classy move haven't really given it much thought about the context.

Yes, helping out with someone's funeral expenses might be welcomed.

But to tweet it without the family having made any announcement as to what the funeral plans are, yeah, very farking classy.
And also, he isn't family and he should be keeping his goddamn disrespectful trap shut.

Mayweather is an idiot. His heart might be in the right place, but he is a dumbass for the disrespect he's showing for Smokin' Joe's family.

2011-11-08 06:55:32 PM

If he attends the burial, the crowd should slowly and calmly form a giant square around the grave, shove a confused Mayweather into the middle, and the pastor takes off his hat and robe revealing himself to be Pacquiao with *gasp* two pairs of gloves.

Nice move by Money though.

It would have been classier if he had done it as an anonymous donation. The way he went about it screams "Hey boxing world, I know we're remembering one of our greats, but don't forget about me!"

Thac0isWhac0: It would have been classier if he had done it as an anonymous donation. The way he went about it screams "Hey boxing world, I know we're remembering one of our greats, but don't forget about me!"

Well to be fair, when he paid for Genaro "Chicanito" Hernandez's funeral he did it anonymously but the boxing world could not keep the news secret and understandably so when your biggest star who is seen by everyone to be a douche does something nice like this. I believe Mayweather is an idiot at root, but a really nice guy although he chooses to go with his stupid heel persona.

NewWorldDan: It's a nice gesture, but you know what would be even better? Helping out some broken down old fighters before they're dead.

You might not be familiar with Nate Jones (new window). To summarize: he was an Olympic bronze medalist who did not make it as a pro and suffered diminished reflexes and speech which forced him to retire "broken down." Mayweather, being his old teammate, offered him a job which consists basically of hanging around for a paycheck. Sometimes I wonder how Jones feels toward Mayweather as they both started their paths similarly as very good prospects with big dreams and only one of them capitalized on it, it is a rather sad turn of events.

yeah, there's goes that missing context thing again.

He tweeted to the world on somethng that he had no right to, at another family's most emotional time. It was their right to announce or not whoever assisted them. Not his. That makes him a farking douchebag.

It is the first time he has done this. This is the first time he has tweeted that he was paying for someone's funeral expenses (note, not offer to pay, btw). You're missing the bigger picture here.

You are not putting yourself in the position of Frazier's family. It's a very private thing, a funeral. You don't announce something stupid like Imma goona pay for Joe Frazier's funeral on Twitter, ffs.

For him to do so, without some semblance of blame, would mean that the Frazier family had agreed that he can pay the expenses and tell the world. However, only a farking douchebag would go ahead and announce it to the world anyway.

Butbut buit....he's doing a generous thing....

He is, but he's being a coont about it.

GungFu: However, only a farking douchebag would go ahead and announce it to the world anyway.

I think it takes a douchebag to call someone paying for someone else's funeral a douchebag.

First, I don't know how private Frazier's funeral is going to be - it's surely going to be limited to close family and friends, but you really think there aren't going to be celebrities and sports personalities there? There are a lot of people who greatly respected Frazier as a person and athlete, and there is nothing nothing wrong with publicly appearing at the ceremony to thank his family, share stories, get hammered, etc.

Second, so what? Are you 100% sure of Mayweather's intentions and motives? Heaven forbid the guy give any iota of being a student of boxing history and have admiration for one of his sports greatest generals, and want people to recognize the man Frazier was and the legacy he left behind. What would it take to convince people this was a selfless act? I mean shiat - how many of his Twitter followers really know who Frazier was?

When Jordan dies, if LeBron says he wants to pay for the funeral, does that make him an equal coont? What about if Steve Nash offers it? What if Pacquiao had offered to pay for the funeral? Are you sure your opinion of the man making the donation isn't bleeding into your opinion of the donation?

/sorry, drunk, rant off

Yes, I had a time machine and knew that the grand jury report would come out, that there would be 10 more victims revealed, and that Paterno would announce his retirement. This is exactly the same story from Saturday. Your perspective and and grasp of context is incredible.

Hey retard, the grand jury report had been out nearly 2 days when I made my post and all the other people in this thread were looking for the PSU thread also for the same reason. Maybe you should look at other news locations other than just Fark. God damn.
