Does this portend a cut in their camera prices?

Otherwise, meh.

I am a big fan of the Micro four thirds standard, and I hope that this does not kill it.

(all the other mirror-less designs have big flaws)
Sony's NEX is good, but it is only for Sony, and the lens selection is just not there. At least Olympus and Panasonic are on-board together.
Nikon 1 is just a joke, and most of the other small formats are proprietary.

I have the E-PL2 as well, but they Panasonic pancake lenses are the best. the 20mm and the 14mm are all that I use.

I once owned an early model Olympus digital camera. What a piece of crap that thing was.

I heard about it last week as a rumor when I was as at [xxxxx] in [xxxxx]. I actually have a vested interest and insider's positioning which is how the knowledge came to be in my possession Keep in mind the consumer camera division is one of the smaller divisions of the Olympus empire. This scandal is rocking the industry but it was obvious since key players have been falling like bricks lately. This could be another ENRON before it is all over.

I've had the EP-1, 2,3 and love 'em but I'm afraid that this will kill the Micro 4/3 standard. Panasonic can't carry it alone, and Oly is in big trouble. I would not be surprised if they have to sell of their divisions, or are taken over for their profitable medical optics division with their stock price so low. Panasonic won't be able to fight off the NEX and other mirror less cameras, they are already talking about making a NEX clone. It is unfortunate since the system is so nice, and you can finally get just about any lens you want.

Windowlick: I have the Panny 20mm, but I don't use it as much as I thought I would.

There seem to have been some inappropriate connections to Yakuza as well.
