FTA: Sean Avery: "...I can safely say that he's among the most annoying players, not only as a shift-disturber (though that talent has fallen off in recent years), but just as a generally awful human being."

[citation needed]

He's probably the MOST annoying player in the league, though he's very much cleaned up his act the last couple years as his talent starts to dip. But by most accounts, off ice he's a pretty good guy.

+1 Marchand became my favorite Bruin during the playoffs last season.

I have moved from Maine to Philadelphia to Ann Arbor. Being a Bruins fan in Philly was tough, but I have no right to complain. Most Flyers fans I knew thought the Bruins were as dirty a team as the Flyers, and they are probably right. Living in the Red Wings market now, I can't find anyone who appreciates a physical, borderline dirty playing team.
This whole list is made up of players who I'd love to have on my team, but when the B's play them I want to see them get pummeled by Lucic or Chara.

Oops, stupid me, I'm thinking of Maxim LaPierre.

Also: PK Subban? Sure, I hate watching my team play him because he's a beast, but he's hardly a goon. He hits hard because he's the size of Mount Rushmore, if Mount Rushmore were made out of angry Ontarian muscle, and he can put a puck above, below, or directly through the chest of an opposing goalie.

It's so easy to hate 2/3 of them. And Bryz is getting some hate from philly fans for his 3 GAA.

Miss a hockey thread? No sir. Also, it was a great excuse to post that pic of Marchand. I love that little douche bag.

Good couple of games for the B's... Seguin just gets more impressive as his confidence builds. Good to see Looch, Horton, and Krejci starting to wake up, too.

Love to see the Bruins dominate on this home stand their in...

Well to be fair, I usually see him when he's playing my team (Rangers), but I do watch him play and I've never seen anything that would put him on this list. Every hockey player has the capacity for getting chippy, but he's always struck me as someone who just really competes hard. And he's a hell of a player.

Then again, I suspect you're a Bruins fan... in which case, your arguments are invalid. All talented division rivals are pests.

No doubt. If there was only some way they could play the Leafs and Isles for the rest of the season...

I love watching Seguin play. It seems like all his goals are highlight reel stuff. He just has such good instincts. I have a 10 game package this year, so I'm watching live hockey on a regular basis for the first time in a long time, and it's awesome.

Subban at #1 though? That seems like a strange choice. Is it because he's as good as he is, in addition to his antics, which are pretty tame compared to a lot of the others?

Hell, I hate the Canadiens (B's fan) but I don't understand the league-wide disdain for Subban at all.

Sure, he chirps. Sure, he's taken a hilarious dive here and there. Sure, he can be a showboat...but the dude has legit skill, and in every interview I've seen of him he seems genuinely nice and respectful of other players.

Compared to the rest of the list, he's a choir boy.

People hate him because he doesn't play for their team. Same reason Sidney Crosby gets a lot of flak. "Oh he's a diver, he's a whiner". Whatever, you'd trade half your team to get him and anyone who says otherwise is lying out their ass.

That second goal of his hat trick was sick... He batted that backhanded out of the air into the opposite top corner. Crazy.

I pretty much blew my live hockey budget going to Chicago to see the Bruins on Oct 15, unfortunately... Though, I may be able to get to a few other games later in the season.

I suspect I'll be going to more Providence Bruins' games this season, though... Totally worth it. We had a blast in Chicago (great fans, I have to say) AND the Bruins pulled off the win.

The thing that bugs me most about Subban is that he has tremendous talent. The diving, chirping, antagonizing antics are not needed in his game. Most of the shiat-stirrers are mediocre players using a different skill set to stay in the line-up. If he shut his yap, concentrated on his position's role, and played the game without all the additional bullshiat I think he could become a serious Norris candidate.

That said, I still want to see Shawn Thornton, Adam McQuaid, or Milan Lucic pound him in the face at least once this season.

Well, with Subban I think it's something extra; the guy plays and conducts himself with a certain level of confidence you see in moreso in other other sports. He carries himself more like the hot-shot WR who talks sh*t to the opposing defense like "you can't cover me", makes the first-down signal and glares at the nearest defender after the catch, etc. Since I watch football all the time that kind of behavior doesn't bother me at all, but some old-school hockey fans probably can't stand it.

Like I mentioned earlier, he's very complimentary of opponents through the media and is willing to poke fun at himself. The other guys on that list (namely Avery) have taken public cheap shots disparaging opposing players. Subban doesn't.

Oh, me too. Love the AHL. Can't beat the ticket price, either (and Providence is much closer to me than Boston). 'Course, the P-Bruins have been pretty shiatty last couple of seasons. Always have a blast, though.

I feel for the guy. He was expected to be a solid wall on the first day and instantly fit with the team. Anything more than a 0.00 GAA would have been met with hate.

If we just give him some time I think he'll settle in. Bobs is a pretty good backup too.

He hasn't been relevant in years. He's only in the NHL these days because no on else in Ottawa wants to stand in front of the net. Back when he'd drop the gloves you'd have a case but these days he mostly just chirps then heads for the bench.
