I liked the book Hannibal Rising, but don't remember the film.

Hannibal Lecter was effective in Silence of the Lambs because he was used sparingly so that each appearance had maximum impact. This is why the subsequent movies sucked - it focused too much on him. It's as if Jaws had the shark prominently displayed in every scene.

She's tasty but that show is awful. One "normal" couple, two sets of "extreme" friends. Anyone else notice that's the premise of "Perfect Couples"?
Lecter showing up for a season finale would at least be original.

I'm convinced they jack that studio audience up on nitrous oxide before each taping, because there's no way people in control of their faculties would be laughing at some of the stuff they're laughing at.

Meh. Whitney's all sinew. Lecter would prefer a healthy girl. Someone well-nourished and with some length of bone. Perhaps from West Virginia.

Hannibal was used sparingly in Manhunter, and the film still sucked. Rising is about him. I don't think the character was over used in Red Dragon.

That show is straight out of 1994.

Imagine, if you will, yourself in 1994 and watching a show that reminded you of the way shows were done in 1977. That's what that show is like.

The show is an instant failure. Dexter made a serial killer likable. Hannibal can't get caught in a series because the show would end. Unless they make a Dexter/OZ type show, I don't see how it can work.

Can we feed him Sarah Silverman and Dane Cook for dessert?

Sorry. Haven't seen her show, don't know who she is.

Dexter - boat + van + group of serial killers? Sounds good.

I think his total screen time was less than 16 minutes. Amazing.

Manhunter was really good, but illustrates a problem with adapting Red Dragon. Either you get Wil Graham endangering himself psychologically by trying to think like the killer (Manhunter), or you get the full Tooth Fairy story (Red Dragon). You just can't do both in one movie.

My favorite story about Silence was that at the awards ceremony, there was a gay/lesbian anti-defamation group handing out pamphlets and protesting that yet another movie was portraying a homosexual/drag queen as a dangreous killer. Instead of trying to ignore it, Demme held one of the pamphlets up during his speech and encouraged everyone to read it. And his next movie was Philadelphia.

I actually like Whitney's show. I haven't noticed some of those flaws that others have pointed out. What I like most is that on the show, her boyfriend is actually the reasonable one. She embodies the pettiness of women and resists the urge to create yet another sitcom where the girl is the smart one and the guy is just the go-along-to-get-along doofus.

2011-11-08 12:17:25 PM
Fuller is writing. I'll give it a watch at least once.

He made Heroes passable and Pushing Daisies quite good.

"The Hannibal Lecter Show"? WTF? Is he going to sit behind a desk, ask people stupid questions and then cannibalize them on camera? Who thought up this shiat?

Why is 2 Broke Girls funnier than Whitney when she writes for both?

I pity the poor protective parent seeking programming for their child and finding "Hannibal."

"Oh, look, honey, a series about the life and adventures of Mark Twain!"

Next to FOX, NBC has some of the worst programming.

Unless they dig up some heretofore unknown actor that can simultaneously be recognizable as the Hannibal Lecter character without looking like he's parodying it, this is going to suuuuuuuuck.

Friend of mine who never ever read a book and I watched Manhunter years ago, my friend said "Wow, that was good, its a book right?"

Next day he went to the book store and bought the novel, read that thing front to back that day.

I love 2 Broke Girls, and Kat Dennings' tits especially make that show watchable. Whitney is the show that I imagine Lucille Ball would star in if she had no talent, or comedic timing.

Nope... audio sweetening after the fact.

Years ago when virtually everything was in the clear if you had a satellite I found the wild feed for one of the season finales for America's Funniest Videos. The one where they linked with 3 cities who voted on best videos.

When Bob Saget was doing his monolog there were not a lot of laughs. Of course when it actually aired there were a ton of laughs.

I miss those days. I just sit in front of my TV and randomly scan for hours. I remember it was so cool being able to watch the Saturday morning kids shows on Friday night. The Tick was on at like 7:15pm Friday on some feed.

I'm a huge fan of the novels. I just hope the author does one more where Lecter goes after the scarred Crawford with Starling by his side.
The ending of the book "Hannibal" was a serious mind rape.

Ditto that and 2 Broke Girls. Both are absolutely terrible.
