We've Pricelined a few rooms before, and a couple times wound up with what we call "The Shatner Suite", a room that while it was as described, had something not quite so awesome about it in terms of view, location, etc.

We rarely, if ever travel without using Priceline or some other service. Mrs. KY has it down to a science: check the rates on Hotwire, bid $10-15 below THAT on Priceline.(Lately, Top Secret Hotels has been cheap...if you don't mind being out in BFE).

I'd say that Priceline breaks down like this:

20% of the time, you get The Shatner Suite (I am SO stealing that line...)

75%-run of the mill average room

5%-"How on earth did we get such a great room at such a low price??"
