I'm not sure how to feel about this; on one hand you have someone being virtually attacked in a public place, but on the other you have what amounts to nearly harmless drivel-spouting by a yappy dog internet bottom feeder child. It's odd, I've been online pretty much continuously since 1991 and I've never really been stalked, harassed, or threatened online. I suspect it's because I don't generally go around pissing people off while simultaneously providing personal info about myself so they can track me down.

I think the thing that she does not understand about the trolls is that they will tailor their abuse to any personal information you let slip in a manner calculated to inflict the maximum possible emotional distress. This personalized service is not limited to one's reproductive equipment, but encompasses age, sexuality, ancestry, education, profession, socioeconomic situation, level of attractiveness, personal habits, and spelling/grammar. And god forbid you reveal that you have a preference in game consoles or the products of Microsoft/Apple.

As a law-abiding twenty-something male, I'm probably never going to be raped so I don't take rape threats particularly seriously. I imagine I wouldn't be nearly as tolerant were it something that was likely to happen to me, particularly if I was foolish enough to, say, go out at night, or post opinions on the internet.
