iat's not like his heirs are profiting from his "Art" or his notoriety. It's value would be in the history of who he was and not what it was. A painting by anyone as historically notable (but not as evil) as Hitler would also command a substantially higher price than anything by a more skilled but less well known artist from the same period. A Gandhi or a Churchill for example would also probably auction off at a fairly high price..

Now if it were a reproduction and was sold as one I'd probably have a similar reaction re: your oven comment because it's pretty unlikely that the owner bought it for its artistic value and it has no historically intrinsic value so it actually might say something about the owner.

I don't know that I necessarily agree that Hitler's paintings were examples of pure evil made real. I mean, they don't espouse his ideals, or even really reflect who he was. They're just paintings.

It sounds like these people are getting a real syndrome over this whole issue..

Your talking about those fine people who emigrated from South Africa to Australia in the early 90s for reasons which had absolutely nothing to do with having to share their cities with black people, right?
