Awesome :)

2003-10-02 03:42:45 PM
His CO will probably ask if they can "borrow" that money to pay for a couple of days in Iraq.

Hello, civilian world ...

2003-10-02 03:43:52 PM
I'm guessing they won't re-up.

2003-10-02 03:43:52 PM
I wouldn't imagine he would be hunting Saddam as feverishly, now that Bruce Willis's promise of a million bucks is only around 1% of his net worth.

2003-10-02 03:44:25 PM
...a new home...

Man, I'd buy a new car too!

2003-10-02 03:44:26 PM

DAR [TotalFark]
2003-10-02 03:44:44 PM
Will still have to serve out his current enlistment!!!!!

2003-10-02 03:44:45 PM
Law talking guy
I don't think Saddam is in South Korea.

2003-10-02 03:44:52 PM
I wouldn't imagine he would be hunting Saddam as feverishly, now that Bruce Willis's promise of a million bucks is only around 1% of his net worth.

I'm guessing since he's stationed in S. Korea he wasn't looking that hard to begin with.

I do not support the war, but I support the troops

This is so coooooooooooool. It's nice that one of our many HEROS is so fortunate. I just hope it doesn't fark his life up. It does happen.

2003-10-02 03:46:32 PM
Should have the hero tag, because he's out their risking his butt to protect ours. That being said, I agree, he won't be re-upping.

2003-10-02 03:46:38 PM
I thought you owed that money back to the government. Or is that only if you're active, and not on leave?

My understanding is that if you are on orders, say to travel someplace, and you buy a lottery ticket while on travel and win, you technically owe the money back to government. At least that's what they told me when I was on a DoD contract.

2003-10-02 03:47:09 PM
.s/their/there

dumbass

2003-10-02 03:48:22 PM
Next week, irony tag overdose when he get's shot dead in Iraq.

2003-10-02 03:48:42 PM
The down side to this is that he HAS to go back to work......

2003-10-02 03:49:19 PM
Somebody want to help Mike out?

2003-10-02 03:49:25 PM
danielscissorhands and RichardRoddendic Yeah, well you also probably don't believe that there is direct evidence linking Saddam to 9-11, either!

(I was just trying to be funny with the Willis reward post)

2003-10-02 03:49:55 PM
Or Korea, whatever.

2003-10-02 03:50:01 PM
yee-haa !!! new wheels for the double wide

2003-10-02 03:50:06 PM
Yeah, this will be great when he goes back to Iraq and gets his legs blown off.

2003-10-02 03:50:27 PM
when I was in the Navy, they told us that if we ever win the lotto we get an honorable discharge automatically because the Navy is no longer worth anything to the average sailor.

2003-10-02 03:50:27 PM
Lawtalkingguy
huh?

2003-10-02 03:50:35 PM
The down side to this is that he HAS to go back to work......

His last words before he leaves:

"Honey, I'm serious. Don't spend it all before I get back."

2003-10-02 03:51:00 PM
Diogenes huh, wa? never heard that before. Makes no sence.

2003-10-02 03:51:06 PM
He might choose to serve out his current enlistment, or even re-enlist, but he will most likely now have an opportunity to seperate from the service if he so chooses.

You mean you didn't read the article and now you're trying to pretend you did?

Finally someone who is deserving of good fortune gets it, unlike that born again already a millionaire lottery winner who gave a bunch of money to his church, and had his truck broken into at that strip club in WV a while back while he was enjoying some early morning "entertainment."

I wonder how his buddies back in Korea are going to treat him when he returns!

2003-10-02 03:53:04 PM
photoguy he can buy back the rest of his contract.
Why would they want to keep him. They wouldn't be able to get him to do much.

2003-10-02 03:53:26 PM
Time for the Sarge to walk into his CO's office, kiss him full on the lips, and embrace the sweet, sweet freedom that his new found discharge will bring him.

Instead of an Army of One, it'll be an Army of One Less.

2003-10-02 03:53:34 PM
woot =)

Here's an irony: after his stint in South Korea he'll be sent to the shiat in Iraq and get hurt or killed by a bomb. Or they'll flag his ETS(End Tour of Service) and he'll have to serve an extra two years in Iraq. Having been in the service I would expect this to happen.

But if all goes well he can get the hell out and enjoy life as a rich civilian. That would be kewl.

2003-10-02 03:54:51 PM
I wonder if a person can still buy their way out of the military? At any rate, good for him. I hope he buys his company a round or two at the bar.

2003-10-02 03:54:55 PM
GoodyearPimp "chemical specialist" aka "napalm them all"

It cracks me up when people talk about things they don't understand.

2003-10-02 03:54:55 PM
all I can say is....DAMN!

2003-10-02 03:55:04 PM
MFinn: Didn't to me either. But the rationale, aparently, was that you wouldn't have been there to buy the ticket had it not been for your orders. But everyone there agreed that was the rule (at least 4 years ago).

2003-10-02 03:55:34 PM
How will he be able to say with a straight face to the underlings "don't call me Sir I work for a living."

2003-10-02 03:56:01 PM
I'm assuming he has more money now than than the total combined income of North Korea (not including Kim Kim Jong Ill, of course).

2003-10-02 03:56:14 PM
Time for the Sarge to walk into his CO's office, kiss him full on the lips, and embrace the sweet, sweet freedom that his new found discharge will bring him.

Nuh uh, remember "don't ask, don't tell"?

2003-10-02 03:56:16 PM
Dude can fly home on the weekends now...

2003-10-02 03:56:23 PM
He just needs to take the money and start a porn ring from the military computers

2003-10-02 03:56:32 PM
Whoa! This guy is going to have worse than a short-timer's attitude! Outstanding situation for he and his wife! And with the goods and prices in Korea he'd be able to leave with half the country! Glad to hear someone other than an octogenarian winning some loot. Drink some OB for me, doggy!

2003-10-02 03:56:50 PM
Oh wait, that was the point, never mind. Fark.

2003-10-02 03:58:30 PM
Diogenes I know a few guy that won almost $1000 in casinos over seas on shore liberty & this never came up at all.

2003-10-02 03:58:30 PM
Well, if it HAD to be someone else....good for him!

2003-10-02 03:59:25 PM

/pinky finger to side of mouth with evil glare
