Maybe. Or, maybe the guy is peddling a book, and wants controversy.

Daily Caller and a book for sale?

Can I negative a billion?

FTFA: "There was a choice that night," Pfarrer told TheDC. "There was a choice to keep the mission secret." America, Pfarrer explained, could have left things alone for "weeks or months ... even though there was evidence left on the ground there ... and use the intelligence and finish off al-Qaida."

Right. Because none of the al qaeda guys would have known their boss was dead for weeks or months.

2011-11-07 09:58:21 AM
Bin Laden still had the back and top of his head blown off right? Beause no one cares how that happened.

I stayed until here: "the warriors who penetrated bin Laden". Then I snorted and closed the window.

So.... no one except Obama could have revealed that Osama bin Laden was dead. The Pakistanis would never have even noticed.

Way to go, Obama.

/what a farking tool

2011-11-07 10:47:26 AM
Granted it might have been hard to deny things because we left a chunk of a helicopter behind, but damn, Obama should have kept his big mouth shut. All that intel, rendered worthless before it even got to the States.

We could have dressed someone up in an Osama suit. Haven't you seen White Chicks? This missed opportunity will doom us all.

Standard right wing conspiracy theory.

Yeah, bin Laden's death doesn't seem like the kind of thing that would stay secret for very long. But good luck with those book sales, jackass.

Book summary: Osama bin Laden is dead. Some people are really pissed it didn't happen under Bush.

Of course, he does...

For someone who is supposed to have Special Ops training, he seems somewhat confused as to what the US routinely releases about strikes on high value targets.

We don't hide them. Especially not when there is large amounts of evidence of our involvement. You know, like helicopters on the ground. Be like denying the Black Hawk Down incident in Mogadishu. Only with the cherry on top of nailing Bin Laden.

And since it didn't, it should have been kept secret.

WTF Indeed: Bin Laden still had the back and top of his head blown off right? Without a single injury to US soldiers? Beause no one cares how that happened.

hey, you dropped this. I put it back where it belongs.

So this guy isn't claiming he was there, or has any current role in the US government, but he somehow 1) discovered the identity of the people who were on that mission and 2) got them to divulge top secret information for his book.

Look, I'm no Marine Core Soldier, but I do know that they don't send someone who can't keep his mouth shut on a mission like this.

Bin Laden kept himself off the grid as a way to stay hidden. It obviously worked for a while. The rest of the org going weeks without hearing from him was not unusual.

yet we figured out where he was because of some delivery driver? please, there is always SOMEONE on the outside who is connected and his death could not have been kept a secret ... especially when it involved a raid on a residential compound by the US military in the middle of a prominent neighborhood.

2011-11-07 12:08:39 PM
Are we still talking about this? You'd think there was an election coming up or something.

lulz.

Might be a little matter of a blowed up helicopter that you might want to consider Sheik Von Douchebucket.

Is this the "this was a military coup because Bisquik Hoisin Onambla loved bin Laden and tried to stop the SEALS" guy?

I'm already preparing for the Thanksgiving dinner with my full retard derp relatives who will have consumed this book and will gleefully spout their knowledge on how Obama botched the successful raid to get bin Laden. Oh, this will be a blast. Do I start drinking early, arrive hammered out for a second wind, or get into it gradually to keep my stamina. I love the happy holidays.

Yes, I thought one of the hallmarks of SEALs was that they knew how to keep their farking mouths shut. I'm supposed to believe they blabbed to this douche?

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if they simple executed Bin Laden. I'm not in favor of that either. I would loved to have seen that asshole stand trial and go through the motions.

I mean, what, our often bureaucratic, laborious, labyrinthe justice system should only be turned on all of us?

Imagine Bin Laden having to languish in isolation in a Supermax for years while his lawyers file motions and the justice system stalls and evades (you know they would) and after conviction (he's a slam dunk), he gets to spend another 4 or 5 years in isolation only to be quietly executed in a room of 20 or so witnesses, etc.

Assuming OBL was simply executed, I don't like the idea of them creating a version of events where his supporters get to portray him as fighting the infidels until his last breath...

Oh but Pakistan didn't know he was there, remember? He just built a million dollar compound in their dirt poor country a hundred yards from a military base (from what I heard) without anyone in the government being involved whatsoever.

You can't have it both ways.

Either he was properly off the grid and so any intelligence gathered was out of date, inaccurate and/or limited.

Or he was connected and his death (and the information leak) would have quickly been known about.

Interesting take by this guy. Because while he says he is connected and knows what happened, I have an acquaintance who also claims to know a little something about it (having been in the military and part of the Tora-Bora operation way back when.) He says this guy is full of crap.

I don't know who to believe, really, but I'd probably side with the guy that I know and who isn't trying to sell anything.

Ehh
2011-11-07 12:12:11 PM
The guy has a book to sell, and it seems the pitch is, all you Obama haters, you'll want to buy this one. Because what Obama should have done is not confirm or deny anything when the Pakistani government went nuts in the media about having its sovereignty violated, and showed pictures of a crashed American helicopter, and talked about how a bunch of American soldiers conducted a shooting raid in Pakistani territory. Yeah, Obama should have said, "I am not at liberty to talk about that" to the American public because Al Qaeda would have had no idea about what had happened, none at all, unless the story appeared on CNN. Or something like that.

Everything a US President says in public is a political calculation. Announcing Bin Laden's death wasn't nearly as political as keeping it a secret would have been.
