I suppose that is logistically reasonable, but the payoff for what they expected to be on the train sure doesn't seem worth having to live on the run in Brazil. and then to find out he had regrets even though the payout was substantially more makes it even more puzzling.

I was kind of assuming that the article was written in Brazil and we were getting the second-hand English translation from a kind-of-bilingual Portuguese speaker. Is that not the case?
