I once was found shirtless, covered in vomit and blood, and drunk as ten skunks in a random (not mine) minivan I claimed to have driven to the random neighborhood I happened to be in.

The cops were surprisingly cordial, even after they figured out it wasn't my van.

Definitely, because I know if I find some random white dude sleeping in my car, I'm not calling the cops. I'll probably invite him in for tea and a quickie.

So in one thread, we have people going OO! BAD! LET'S LET EVERYONE DO WHAT THEY WANT CUZ COPS R EVIL!

And in this one we'll have people going OO! BAD! LET'S LET EVERYONE GIVE PEOPLE BEATDOWNS IF THEY CATCH THEM BEING BAD CUZ CRIMINALS ARE EVIL!

Pretty typical for Fark, of course, I'm just keeping score.

Getting put on the ground isn't much of a beatdown. Also, people tend to react violently when awoken in unfamiliar locations. Even more so when possibly intoxicated and the ones waking you are cops.

Clearly, another case of police brutality trying to keep the brown man down! In the idealistic liberal mindset, they obviously should have let this poor, repressed indigent farm worker sleep off his indungance where he lay, and then offer him public assistance (i.e food stamps, medical care, public housing, etc.) and a nice breakfast burrito.

And then there will be those that would say give the asshole a good beating and send him on his way without ever involving the pigs.

CSB: my friend lived a few blocks from a big bar scene. He left his car unlocked in his driveway one night and woke up to a pile of puke in the gack seat and a business card on the dash. Some drunk crawled in to sleep it off, got sick and had the decency to pay for the cleanup. It was a couple of hundred to get it detailed, but I still could catch the faint hint of puke when it was hot out. He ended up selling it that winter to some poor sap.

Yeah, must have been in a more upscale area in Safety Harbor.
I think they had some kind of wine festival Saturday night in Safety Harbor, where they close off their main street. I bet there was more than one person sleeping it off in that area.

Actually, I went shopping three christmases ago, got my goodies got, went out to the parking lot, found my ford ranger, got the keys out, got in, started the engine, and made it half way to the exit before I realized it wasn't my truck. Totally sober. My similar colored ford ranger was on the opposite side of the lot.

The end.

Terry Hoitz: [shows his badge] Police, shiathead.
Dirty Mike: He's a copper, we gotta go. C'mon! Hey, grease it, boys! They're cops!

Pretty much sums up my mindset. Stomp the hell out of the scrub and give the PD a highly plausible story of how he got violent when I started raising hell about his being in the vehicle. Castle doctrine and all that.
Honestly though, none of the above would happen because I make sure my vehicles are locked before I call it a night.

Is it really necessary to give an errant drunk the usual American cop jackbooted beat down?

I dunno, if I found a guy passed out in my truck I probably wouldn't call the cops. A knock on the window, hey are you okay? Are you alive? And if he didn't respond then call 911 for emergency help to save the man from dying.

But, then again, I'm a trusting farker and it's probably going to get me dead one day.

Jack Black 62: I would have dragged him out and beat his ass. No need to get the jack booted thugs involved.

Back when I was still a renter my landlord went to go to work one morning and found some guy passed out in his truck. Landlord was a pretty big dude. Drug the guy out and curb-stomped the hell out of him, fracturing a cheekbone and breaking off 3 teeth at the gumline. Cops came and took the drunk away. My landlord never did get in trouble for that.

Seemed a bit excessive to me seeing as it was just some drunk fella looking for a sheltered spot to curl up for a while. (a situation I could relate to) Definitely spurred me into hurrying up and buying a house so I could get out of his rental unit.

/mediocre story is mediocre
