I was hoping Harold and Kumar would do better. I don't see anything remotely interesting about Tower Heist.

Who wants to see a Christmas movie November 6? It's bad enough that I was at the mall today and all the Christmas decorations are up and Christmas carols are playing in all the department stores. Too soon!

Not only that, but we're talking about a hard-R rated comedy pitted against a family film and a PG-13 action comedy. Harold and Kumar were doomed for mediocre box office.

Yes, way too soon for Christmas. Who needs 7 weeks to do their shopping?

My sister, who has 5 kids and a lazy husband.

Power was out here in eastern MA earlier in the week so I took my daughter to see Puss in Boots at the IMAX. Bunch of other local parents were there too.

/fun movie, easily exists in the Shrek universe

Mugato: I don't see anything remotely interesting about Tower Heist.

I think its another case of "saw the trailer, saw the movie", with a bunch of comedy has-beens in a contrived plot. In other words, anything Adam Sandler has done in the last 15 years.

2011-11-06 06:40:09 PM
That's because Tower Heist is basically Ocean's Eleven with idiots.

I saw Tower Heist yesterday and enjoyed it. I'm surprised that Harold and Kumar didn't do better at the box office.

Yeah, like a poor man's Oceans 11. No worse, a destitute man's Oceans 13.

I was actually really surprised by how good Puss in Boots was. much better than the last couple Shrek movies

Also, I didn't even realize that had been released. Not much (at all) in the way of advertising for it. I knew it existed, but I figured it would come out next month or something logical like that.

Not ready for freaking Christmas. As it is, I'm still suffering from not having Halloween due to snow. Has everyone forgotten that Thanksgiving is in the middle of the two?

I'm holding out for Roger Corman's Puss Heist.

I heard it doesn't have enough Eddie Murphy.

After "Norbit" and the other drek he's crapped out I never thought I would find myself typing that sentence.

it doesn't but Alan Alda is really good at being a shiat so that helped.

No. Fark you - spend money. Buy shiat you don't need. Go overboard - it's good for the economy, it creates jobs, it honors the Lord.

I'd seen advertisements for it, but it didn't dawn on me that it was out this weekend. Hell, the wife and I were planning to see it on her birthday next month because we assumed in came out in December.

I have no interest in Puss in Boots because fark Shrek, that's why.

Tower Heist wasn't that bad. We laughed quite a bit and the cast was good. Its storyline was a bit cathartic in these times and there was a lot of clapping.

2011-11-06 07:22:41 PM
saw Harold and Kumar. I thought it was pretty good.

2011-11-06 07:31:54 PM
I thought the first Harold and Kumar sucked.
So did the second (caught about 30 mins of it on tv one time..... the part where they talk with Dubya)
I can't imagine what level of suckage this one is.

Mugato: I was hoping Harold and Kumar would do better. I don't see anything remotely interesting about Tower Heist.

It was underwhelming. Of course, it didn't help that I didn't check to make sure it was a 3D showing before I bought my ticket. One of the very few times I actually wanted to see the movie in 3D, and I blew it.

2011-11-06 07:45:55 PM
Tower Heist isn't a movie title, it was the pitch name. If they aren't going to bother to give the movie a real name after pitching it to the studio, then we're going to expect you gave the rest of the movie that much thought too.

By the way, I didn't see this movie when it was called Ocean's 11-13 and it had much better actors.

Mugato: I still haven't taken down my coffee table graveyard. And no one can make me.

I'm not taking down my neon green tree ghosts, nor am I removing my pumpkins until critters of the night eat them all.

And no one can make me.

And I had to re-hang all my tree ghosts after the foot of snow knocked them down. Fark off, I'm celebrating Halloween.

/my band is doing a costume show 12/10... Halloween in December, because why the fark not?

Tower Heist is yet another movie tinted entirely in gold and blue. People are sick of that shiat.

And by people I mean me.

Enough with this stupid farking trend.

I wonder if Harold and Kumar was hurt by its demographic? Young men are more likely to pirate stuff off the internet. Parents aren't likely to try and pirate stuff for their kids, teaching them how to steal.

2011-11-06 08:28:24 PM
Tower Heist might have worked with more Eddie and no Ben Stiller.

2011-11-06 08:30:37 PM
I enjoy the irony of people comparing Tower Heist to Oceans 11. "Tower Heist is so unoriginal; I liked it better when it was Oceans 11. Now there's an original movie!"

I do recall Puss in boots being the better part of Shrek 2. I mostly just dislike Dreamwork's animated films. Too much of it is "Hey, remember [other, better film]? That's the joke."

Brett Ratner's shrimpwank has me wanting to read Olivia Munn's book. Other than that, he can go now.

THIS.

I feel that the casting worked against the film. It's hard to feel sympathy for a bunch of millionaires playing the downtrodden. It simply doesn't work.

The first Shrek was great. A little dated, now.

The sequels don't exist.

PiB was pretty funny, but still lacking. The ending closed several chapters, but messed with the continuity.

Wait, you're seriously complaining about the continuity in the Shrek franchise? Despite willfully discarding 3 of the movies?

Eddie Murphy being Eddie Murphy rather than being Don Cheadle is better than anything in the Ocean's remake series
