Submitter, what we need is a BEFORE and AFTER website. So that we can see how many millions of dollars candidate X spent on cars and homes while getting paid $80K per year.

Mitt Romney's house is awesome.

Hahahaha... good one.

Also, Mitt Romney is ridiculously wealthy.

Also, Mitt Romney is ridiculously wealthy.

In any other election I might say, 'well that's the only reason he is in the running'

But looking at the field he actually seems like the least crazy one of the bunch, and Mormons are farking crazy.

fta- The question of Santorum's residency location was the catalyst for a frothy controversy spanning more than a decade, as detailed here.

Who was the last President that could have been considered Middle Class before becoming president? Truman maybe?

Three things I got from that article:

A) Homes are way cheaper down south

B) Mitt Romney has an absolutely beautiful home

C) WTF is the point of owning huge tracts of barren yard? IMO it's unattractive. Do something with the land.

2011-11-06 01:51:34 PM
Although expensive, Newt's house looks surprisingly modest

2011-11-06 01:51:45 PM
Bachmann lives up the street from my in-laws. FIL is super conservative and proud of it. At least now I know which house is specifically hers. Think I might bring my gay friends for a little walk around the neighborhood one of these days...

Newt has terrible taste, or at least his wife # whatever does, and I say this as someone who does not give a crap about real estate. That house is uglier than a pug under glass.

TFA says Romney owns multiple mansions.

Good one, writer. Santorum also needs to plant some more damn trees around that place. It looks very... unshady.

If I were rich, I'd buy a nice brick townhouse like Huntsman's.

scavenger: Who was the last President that could have been considered Middle Class before becoming president? Truman maybe?

Gerald Ford.

Most of these houses are ugly. Romney's house is amazing. His house here in MA was really, really nice as well. Good taste. Bad politician.

Obama was fairly middle class until his second book. I like Huntsman's house.

Yeah, Huntsman's house is nice as well.

If I had that kind of scratch, I'd buy a much nicer house than most of these fools. Tacky shiat.

First thing I noticed was the GT40. I assume that picture is from the listing before they bought it. Marcus strikes me as a Miata or possibly VW Cabriolet type guy.

Yeah....Mitt's house, the Ford GT (I hope it's not really hers) in Bachmann's driveway, and the last paragraph were the best things in TFA.

Seeing Santorum's house only convinced me that he is a reincarnated White Southern Plantation owner.

I have a little more respect for Bachmann knowing at least she has good taste in cars and granite siding.

Marcus cannot fit in a Ford GT and there's no way Michele is driving it. It must be one of her 23 foster kids' ride.

Clinton was pretty middle class too, if you consider a career in state politics to be middle class (at least salary-wise). Hillary pulled down the big bucks as a private firm partner, though.

If you're willing to dip into VPs, Biden is very middle-class, and his only source of income has been his government salary. His wife makes diddly-squat as a community college teacher.

Nixon was pretty much middle class up to his run as Eisenhower's VP.

I refer you to his "Checkers Speech" (new window) where he lists his personal finances at the time.

Ron Paul announced in April on his Facebook page that he's selling the house where he and his family (including his son, U.S. Sen. Rand Paul) have lived for more than four decades. He created an official website for the house, " Buy Ron Paul's House ," which says "generations of Liberty [ sic ] loving kids have grown up here, and you can continue the tradition."

Although there are numerous photos of the pool and patio area on the site, it did not seem to occur to the three-time presidential candidate to include any photos of the front of the house or the interior.

WTF?

I've seen much nicer.

I've worked in PAD here in Las Vegas for about twenty years now polishing marble. Once in awhile some casino suit needs help getting his home all nice and spiffy for an important function, so sometimes we casino workers gets Shanghaied for a night.

The best home I ever worked on had six bedrooms, ten baths, a kitchen/casual dining area modeled after a local Carl's Junior restaurant, a mini-theater with a concession stand, a huge catio (cat+patio) for his half dozen cats, and an authentic English pub.

It was more like a strip mall than a home.

Gaudy and awful. It's like what a real architect would design as a joke. How many distinct roofs does one really need on a house?

Trees would get in the way of the motion-sensors that stop his children from escaping.

Marcus needed to be assured that it would stay erect.
