Why was she wearing bubble wrap in court?

It's called soda. Not pop.

FTFA Prosecutors said Wenke attacked her husband because she was livid that he had a new girlfriend.
Guess she liked the old one better.

Well, lucky for her she'll most likely end up going to a place where they pad the walls with that kind of stuff. So I guess that's kind of a silver lining to all of this...

A perfectly planned crime, if only she'd known, you know, how to actually stab someone to death. It's a lot harder than it looks, the human body is a very tough thing to break, unless you know its vulnerable points and can find them in "the heat of battle"

I would think it would be rather hard to sneak up on somebody while fully dressed in bubble wrap. Especially while emitting a blood curdling, psychotic shriek the entire time.

No [Amusing] tag? Seriously, though, what the fark?

And on a related note, people are always afraid of getting attached and killed by some social misfit or deranged psychopath, but it's far more likely that you'll be killed by someone you know because you did something that pissed you off. Just like your child isn't going to be molested by that guy down the street who you don't find sufficiently aesthetic but rather someone that has known your child for years and has had sufficient time to lust after them so that it finally has built up to the point that they do something in regards to their desires.

HAHA, you're funny. Of course she will get alimony. Permanent alimony depending on how long they are married. She is the VICTIM here.

This case is all over the news here in the Bay Area. According to other sources, the real sticking point in the divorce is custody of their 8-year old son. I'm guessing since the attack took place after normal working hours (they continued to work together at their construction company during the divorce proceedings), she planned to incapacitate him with the stun gun so she could stab him fatally, then slip away unseen and get away with murder. Perhaps claiming a robbery went bad or something like that.

In any case, I'm guessing this won't help her custody claim.

Oh, and I wonder what dad will tell junior in a few years about sticking one's dick in crazy.

At first I thought it was to mask the sound of the gunshots, but the perp used a knife so that can't be it.

it is California. It will probably help her case since she can claim the guy is injured and can't take good care of the kid.

The speculation here is that it was for padding in case he fought back, although I read she's not talking.

Not even California is that farked up.

Uh...check that. Depends on the particular family court judge, and there appears to be an inordinate number of man-hating wimminz in that job. On second thought, it's not out of the realm of the possible.

How DARE you move on with a new relationship a mere 13 months after filing for divorce?

I guess she felt he didn't have the right to be happy.
If that's the case, she should have moved back in with him.

Did she think that bubble wrap would:
a) insulate her from the stun gun's electricity
b) make him horny (we assume here that bubble wrap was the ONLY thing she was wearing) so he was distracted long enough to stab
c) keep blood splatter off her body
d) provide her with an excuse to ask "does my butt look fat in this?" and then plead not guilty by reason of his saying "your butt looks fat in everything"
e) accumulate a static charge that would DOUBLE THE POWER of the stun gun
f) make all the other murdering wives jealous when they saw that she was wearing the latest fashion right off the London catwalks
g) provide her with a fun, distracting diversion while she waited for her husband's blood to congeal so she could wrap him up in a carpet and take him to the post office and try to get him into one of those "if it fits, it ships" prepaid USPS overnight packages
h) protect her from punches and kicks as his tazed body writhed on the office floor
i) allow her to roll an office chair over it to imitate the sound of machine gun fire, confusing Mr. Monk so that it takes him an extra day or two to say "here's how it happened..."
j) protect her on those "heavy flow" days
