Envy is wanting what someone else has. The song Jessie's Girl is about envy.

Jealousy is about wanting to keep something to yourself. Alan, being a jealous prick, slugged Bob for flirting with Cindy.

We have two different words because they have two different (that means: not the same) meanings. They are opposite sides of an ugly coin.

Question of the day: Why has Peter Jackson not considered Danny DeVito as a Hobbit yet?

Then the role should go to Arnold Schwarzenegger instead. They're practically twins.

The OED includes "covetous of the love of another" as part of one of its definitions of jealous.

Who the hell is "Leroy the Pig"?? I've read "The Hobbit" thousands of times, and there's no pig in it.

Guess I'm checking this one off my must-watch list.

I doubt that the pig will actually be named in the film. Likely, this pig, who will be in the background, is named Leroy.

By the way, even if the pig IS named in the film, that was a nice over-reaction you had to it, slick.

Well, we'll have to wait and see. I hope you're right.

OTOH, if there IS an actual talking pig named Leroy in the film, I hope everyone will join me in boycotting the film as the travesty it has surely become.

Too bad, it's actually a charming little piece. Not nearly as annoying as their stuff can get. But it's up to you - if you end up clicking and then regret it, I'm not taking the heat. :)

It's an article by Quint. Which means it's actually well written and interesting. He's pretty much the only decent one left since Moriatry quit.

How else would they know the pig's name is Leroy unless it told them? Think about it.

2011-11-07 02:09:58 AM
Huh, is that a regular pig? I kind of thought they would use Kunekune because they would look familiar and yet unfamiliar outside NZ, and they're miniature pigs.

A real normal-sized sow would take out a hobbit and eat it for breakfast.

/Plus, they're freaking adorable (new window)
