The wings make the ass look big?

When it slams into a mountainside with hundreds of screaming passengers and the tail design is at fault, then I'll complain.

Truly a disappointment to Boeing Booty lovers everywhere.

Change the paint pattern. Straight stripes with accents or some other color gradation will make it less 'bulbous'.

Same way a heavy set person shouldn't wear horizontal stripes.

The paint scheme differs for each customer, be they private buyers or commercial airlines. ANA's new scheme is a bit odd, but very conservative overall. You're likely to see a lot of simple paint schemes on this plane to maximize weight savings.

I'd hit it.

They could probably address the issue with a regimen of stringent Pilotes.

I wonder what Tednigma thinks will make 787s fly in the future? Sunshine? Hopes? Dreams? After all, we're only using oil because of the money, we'll find some other energy source, right?

Looks more like it has an extra chromosome, rather than lacking one...

Form follows function.

It could look like the stupidest thing ever, according to our subjective opinions of design, but if it can get the maximum numbers of people to heir destination with the least amount of fuel, that's all I want out of a plane.

Plus, at 30,000 feet, I can't even see the shape of the plane anyway. (Either I'm inside it, or on the ground)

Methinks that pilot Patrick Smith is a whiny biatch.

The tail is too small, not too big. TFA photo is from wrong angle.

The vertical stabilizer is mounted a little forward for aerodynamics and this pilot is more worried about esthetics.

I work on the 787 Program, so I'm really getting a kick out of these responses.

/YRLY.
//Probably won't fly on one until I'm 50+, though.
///Have yet to fly on a 777.

Patrick Smith is a f*cking awesome pilot.

Take heart, Boeing fans, Smith thinks the Airbus A380 is uglier - "There is something grotesquely anthropomorphic about the front of the A380. It's like a plane that's missing a chromosome."

2011-11-06 11:16:29 AM
RTA. Smith's criticisms are all aesthetic.

Fabulous.

I don't want a pretty plane. I want a functional one.

/I don't see anything ugly about this plane.

Everyone is confused, I'll try to break it down.

Someone complained to the author that the Boeing787 had no butt. Same person later complained the Airbus380 had too big a butt.

Me thinks said person often complains of sharp knees.

it's area rule, snobby ass pilot. deal with it. just hope that delaminated composites don't start showing up on these aircraft after a couple thousand cycles.
