In related news, Andy Williams isn't dead yet!

"Can't take my eyes off of you" is a Frankie Valli/Four Season's song, but I'm sure subby knew that.

/ Williams is like 85 years old everyone gets cancer if they live long enough.

Came here to say exactly this. He's still alive? Who knew?

Now Tony Bennett -- that's the definition of cool. Andy Williams? Meh.

Maybe a "Tunnel of Love" can help him out, in "New York, New York".

Great. So we live longer, but we almost certainly get cancer at the end.

This. You beat me to it. It's my favorite cheesy Christmas song.

I wish him well.

I didn't think he was going to do "Moon River," but then, bam! Second encore!

He set the world record for surviving a relationship with Claudine Longet.

That was pretty excellent, thanks. My mom loved Andy Williams, a/k/a The King of the RemakesTM. Good thoughts to him.

Oh hell. I'm getting tired of people that I liked when I was younger getting old, sick and/or dying.

Yeah, yeah. I know....get use to it - it's going to keep happening.

/Damn.

I've always liked his music, & not just his Xmas album. He'll be missed.

I think he's the only celebrity called back to re-play part of his "Not My Job" segment on Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me because one of his answers was actually also correct.

Grew up watching his stuff on TV when I was a kid. Back when TV programming was "in color."

==============================================================

Well the article (or at least, the one I read) specifically mentions that as one of his songs.

It neglects to mention that he only did a cover version.

Frankie Valli's original version is plenty good enough. He even sang it on Full House!

I hope he doesn't die until after Christmas. Andy Williams was a HUGE part of Christmas for people my age. It would be awful to see him go out at the same time.

That's what the HD proclamations need -- a flute solo introduction.

I can't hate on Andy Williams. He's had a 60 yearb career in music, launched the careers of The Osmond Brothers and Jimmy Buffet, and was cuckolded by one of the world's most beautiful women.

That is one hell of a ride, and I hope he hangs around for a while.

Wow - had not seen that before - thanks. Goosebumps at 2:05.

My own Andy Williams guilty pleasure - "Speak Softly Love" aka The Godfather love theme.

Another geezer who remembers Andy Williams's TV show.

I'm surprised you didn't mention they used to have on a talking bear that was always trying to mooch a cookie from Andy and his guests. In retrospect, his presence on the show made no sense but, then again, it was the late 60s/early 70s.

Andy is pleasant, a quality sorely missing in much modern entertainment. Each year I compile a Christmas CD. Andy is almost always on it. In my house we watched his various shows. That's the way it was.

Of all of the songs Andy Williams is known fo the article had to mention 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' and 'Music To Watch Girls By' ?????????? Where is Born Free, Moon River, etc?

I still remember him singing "Battle Hymn of the Rpublic" at Robert Kennedy's funeral. Yeah, you can all get off my lawn too.

My mom used to ride on the back of his bicycle (not a metaphor), they were kids together in Cheviot, Ohio

Hope he beats. Cancer's a biatch.

On another note, I was kind of amused my this little nugget of wisdom in the comments:

"forget the chemo bicarbonet of soda will cure him in a few weeks andy do your home work if you want to see 90+"

Baking soda. Um... yeah.
